Today's West Australian:

Front page: "Up, up and away..." (photo of Liam Ryan's speccy).
Back page: "Business as usual..." (whole page dedicated to Eagles).

The Game liftout:

Page 1: "Gee the kids were exciting..." (Eagles youngsters only)
Page 3: "Brave calls pay dividends..." (another photo of Eagles youngsters)
Pages 6-7 (centrespread): (Eagles again).
Pages 8-9: (Freo coverage. Yay!).

I know I shouldn't let it get to me, but crikey Moses.

Struggling to hold my tongue as an Atheist.

How about just respecting the fact that some people have faith, just as your right not to have any faith is respected? Really should be no compulsion whatsoever that warrants you having to restrain your tongue.

In no way whatsoever can I respect that. You want me to hold my tongue too... trust me. So I will leave it at that to save a theological discussion on a footy thread.
Edit: just to clarify... I respect that people have the RIGHT to believe whatever nonsense they like.

Nonsense huh? Interesting that some of the world's greatest minds of all time, who dedicated their entire lives to the pursuit of knowledge, disagree with your view. Here's just a few:
  • Francis Collins
  • Sir Isaac Newton
  • Sir Francis Bacon
  • Louis Pasteur
  • William Thomson Kelvin
  • Blaise Pascal
  • Robert Boyle
  • Gregor Mendel
  • Albert Einstein
  • Arthur Compton
  • Charles Darwin
  • Rene Descartes
  • John Eccles
Guess you must know better than them, right?

Ok I'll bite...

In regards to your first question.. Sorry I thought I made it clear. I do not respect faith or the whimsical ideas but respect they have the right to believe in them. Whether that is jehovah, santa, zeus, fairies, or whichever of the thousands of gods out there.

Secondly.. No, of course I don't know better than your preloaded list of sharp minds. Infact see my first comment, they have the right to believe in whatever they like but you allude to their beliefs being evidence of it. It isn't.

They obviously just had your so called "faith"... the word itself meaning complete trust in something for which there is no proof (an extremely foolish and dangerous ideology by the way).

The absolute, unequivocal fact is that there is no evidence (not even a sniff) of ANY of it. There never has been... and I'm guessing never will be but that's all it would take for me to change my mind.

If someone can jump over a house or fly they need to prove it. It's not on me to prove that they can't. The onus is on the person with the ridiculous claim.

So by all means the "faithful" can continue to delude themselves but in my strong opinion JUST themselves. My respect completely dries up when they push the boundaries, poisoning the minds of children who aren't equipped with the mental tools to defend themselves, denying life saving blood transfusion to a child in dire need, or shaping policy.... the tragic list goes on.

Like I said, you probably wanted me to hold my tongue too....
