Who is this guy - does he just hate freo?

Just smashes Montagna in this article and paints fremantle in a generally bad light.

He just sounds like he hates the club and has dribbled this piece under the guise of an opinion

WA Journos hate Ross. A couple of Journos I have met think Ross will be the first coach sacked this year.

I expect we will see more hit jobs like this throughout the year, especially if we have a slow start to the year.

In fairness, if I woke up in the morning, looked in the mirror and saw...

I'd be pretty angry at the world as well.

Interesting you say that about the West. I've noticed it's become even more like a tabloid and is mirroring the Daily Telegraph in NSW, which is where he was previously. I'm not the only person to notice either with that comparison. Positioning of stories, outrageous rubbish that somehow sneaks onto the front page are just some of the examples I've noticed since he was made editor.
The new editor is typical of what you’d expect from someone who came through the ranks at a pathetic rag like the Telegraph. Has instructed the journalists over here to go for sensation and cheap tabloid headlines regardless of whether he facts back up the narrative. Good news for those of us who can make a buck suing them for defamation though.

As for the Prespi article, complete rubbish. Opposition analyst a fairly low profile role at most clubs so no idea how he justified writing this.

I don’t buy or read the West but weren’t posters saying just last week that we were getting a dream run with them?.??

And now they’re getting bashed...?

Channel 9 are chasing Neroli Meadows to become host of the new Footy Show. Please don't do it Neroli! Never get on a sinking ship.

In other news, Hird is supposedly considering a return to coaching next year, after not taking us up on our Opposition Analyst role offer last year. We're one of three clubs who've shown interest in him. Don't think there is much to it but I'm sure it's more than enough for pesty presti to launch into another tirade about culture.

That would be a a cowards hit something like the team he follows specialises in...

Prestipino's story, which he must have thought was interesting enough that it warranted its own column a couple of years back, is that he came to WA from over east and decided he had to pick one of the WA teams to follow, having dumped on his previous team who were going shizen (Carlton), and having previously disliked the West Coast, so he jumped on to supporting Fremantle when we were a Top 4 team (i.e. bandwagoning).

A Fremantle supporter (maybe someone from BigFooty) engaged him in an online debate after one of his negative articles last year (from memory it was in the comments section beneath the story) and Prestipino gave a reply that he thought Lyon shouldn't be coaching Fremantle and that a lot of other people in the media thought the same as he did but were too scared to put their thoughts in print.

His report about the sexual harassment case allegedly involving Lyon and a junior staffer, led to the follow-up story in the Herald Sun which contained more serious but yet unproven/unreleased details, including that the family and the victim were said to be upset about the information released in Prestipino's story (eg the "budding boobs" quote).

Where did this rumour he hates the Eagles come from? From his Facebook page...

Or has he just bandwagon jumped again?

Or has he just bandwagon jumped again?

It was what he wrote in his story (about himself). Its been discussed here before, and whether it was genuine or not. I'll see if I can dig it out - although its probably also in the BigFooty archives. I might be confused with someone else.

Edit: Its going to be a long day. Already on my way to locating it I have come across article from the middle of 2016 by Prestipino titled "Why Freo should do the unthinkable and give Fyfe the knife".

The Age and WAToday are both Fairfax publications. They share stories and journalists amongst the two. Same goes for the Sydney Morning Herald.
yep, which is handy so when I run out of my free article quota on VSToday for the month and there's something I am interested in reading, I just jump across to the Age or SMH for my 'free' articles there instead.

I have come across article from the middle of 2016 by Prestipino titled[I said:
"Why Freo should do the unthinkable and give Fyfe the knife"[/I].

From that article:

"If Fyfe and Freo part ways... A straight swap for Melbourne's gun WA forward Jesse Hogan is most logical...

If the Dockers can secure Hogan independently of Fyfe, then trading him for another West Australian key position player like Cam McCarthy or fellow Giant Rory Lobb plus a first-round draft pick or gun midfielder like Stephen Coniglio. Tiger Alex Rance and Richmond's first-round draft pick might suffice too."

So we ended up keeping Fyfe, and got Hogan, McCarthy and Lobb. I trust Prestipino has written an article lauding our genius...

And achieved it all while having the coach most likely to be the first one sacked.

wait til we lose a couple of games...
Hopefully that doesn't happen
Always hoping

Hey, I watched a Netflix movie last night, Draft Day. Apart from the obligatory Hollywood romance thrown in it was a great watch on the NFL draft & I recommend it for those like me with a keen interest in trading & drafting

For a club that has been so unlucky in drafting, in injuries, even with sirens, it seems prudent to focus on the lucky when hiring.

- In my view, Montagna was lucky in regard to the Hall incident. Hall really only supplied the punchline.
- In my view, Montagna was lucky in regards to the #metoo incident with Milne

So overall, Montagna has been lucky twice. Bruce Dawe tells us that you can't be this lucky twice (https://exceptindreams.livejournal.com/360520.html).

I would further bolster this luck focus by throwing every second CV in the bin when hiring for all positions. That will eliminate unlucky people from even being considered.

Wow. Guess Montagna won’t be joining us after all. The dollars he’s going to get from the defamation suit he’s going raise against this guy is going to last him a long time :D

Actually if anyone should be exploring their legal options, it looks to me like Lyon.

"Lyon's confidential settlement with the young, female employee at the club in late 2017 was reached after she was allegedly sexually harassed by the senior coach at a function several years earlier. "

According to the media at the time (as I recall) the settlement was in relation to bullying activities of other staff members that occurred AFTER the harassment issue had been dealt with and was considered resolved.

Am I remembering that correctly?
