Didn't hear it what did Duff say?

Just that WAFC commissioner, Gavin Taylor has quit. One of many staff members that have been let go and that there is a parliamentary inquiry into there allocation of funds and governance. Duff mentioned they may come under scrutiny for their West Coast bias since there’s too many of them in the board and their allowance of West Coast keeping millions of dollars (50 million) in there bank accounts when the WAFC technically owns them.

edit. Apuchar beat me to it but what he said

Has Buckland been watching Freo games? We have Tabs and hopefully, Hogan as our key forwards.

I always felt Buckland was full of sh*t, stick to Econs and supporting West Coast and make more claims how Melbourne are the best team
going into the 2019 season.

Yeah I never rated him, used to be active on reddit and was arrogant as ****. Reckon he see's himself as an AFL version of Bill James.

If he trains there in the preseason I reckon he becomes an A grade forward.

I'd hope that's his retirement plan to add some years to the end of his career. I don't think he's an A grade forward and I don't think he has the mind or the game for one either. He's a third tall forward who is fairly average (as in so-so, middle of the road rather than bad) defensively whose biggest strength is floating in the side of packs to take grabs/outbodying outmatched opponents to take contested grabs. It's why he's pretty ineffective when he goes forward at the moment because unlike Dangerfield and Martin he actually attracts a tall defender (whereas the others are smalls who play bigger than they are when the drop forward and generally create favourable mismatches).

At the moment Fyfe is definitely more valuable in the middle. He becomes a weapon forward when both Tabs and Lobb/Hogan start clunking marks inside 50 and exhaust the defensive options on him, he plays smaller and accountable like a smaller player (or more a medium sized marking forward) AND our midfield starts to dominate without him and we get plenty of dangerous inside 50s. At the moment he is serviceable because Taberner is causing problems for defences, Lobb is popping up for a grab or 2 but is still on the wrong side of "threatening" and he doesn't have the ability to hurt defensively or converting the chances he does create from the limited supply.

We and he are still a couple of years off Fyfe training majority forward and being a truly terrifying prospect I think.

Bit of WAInc at the WAFC I think.
Weren't there about 20/30 people on over $100k a year?
Stinks of the Roman Empire to me
They priced out Fremantle ownership for this very reason. It’s an incorporation first. Always will be. Freo should at least be owned privately. But the fallout would be negative. WAFC would just make it hard for Freo to train or rent Optus stadium amongst other restrictions

Not my position to judge but typical Of West Australian...”Former Western Bulldogs player”

Josh Hill played 101 games for the West Coast and 66 games for WB.
to be fair i think the story’s come up twice on their site thanks to their deal with the Herald Sun. The version from HS says former Bulldogs player, the version from the Worst says former Eagles player

How can the WAFC do anything about Optus? Its a State Govt asset controlled by VenuesWest. We are a major tenant of Optus; the WAFC isn't even that.

Our training facility is a joint venture between us and the City of Cockburn.

About the only thing the WAFC could make difficult for a privately owned FFC is participation of reserves footballers in their WAFL.

But even there we would better served having our own dedicated reserves team in the combined VFL/NEAFL.

Bring on private ownership. With the right owner it could be the best move ever for FFC.
