Notice Lobb is not on there. To all the Freo faithful freaking out right now, the team will be fine. In any sport when one goes down, it’s the next man/woman up. JLo turned the hubs into a time to bond and build culture with the boys. He has shown he can get the best out of players (I’m looking at you Cerra) and his system looks solid (see first half of the last game).

He will have Traecy up and running against the Dees. Cox is going to stay down back. We had a top 4 defense last year without Moose and the Hammer. Let’s not upset that. Next man up.

Let the future forwards get some time and continue to develop: Henry and Traecy. Keep our back line strong and let the system work. Schultz said we’re 100% further this year than last. Everyone knows their role. A solid system can make it easier for players to slot in. For example, Rance goes down/retires and the Tigs win a flag. Eagles are another great example.

You can’t say the media is underselling us. They are starting to back our rebuild. The skipper is talking finals. Barlow is talking finals. ******* Dwane is talking flag (we’re winning a flag in three years, didn’t ya hear?). The season kick off was more optimistic than I can ever remember. I understand there are a lot longer suffering Freo fans here than me, but a bit more “faith” from the Freo faithful would be great to see.

Were still the fourth youngest team in the comp, so there will be growing pains, but we’re going to watch some good footy this year.

Josh Treacy our 9th most important player? Hard to take this seriously TBH. The Kids never even played a game and was rookie drafted in December!

It is easy to see where they are coming from though. With Lobb out, he is going to be thrust into the team quicker than anyone was expecting and we are going to be relying a lot on him for structure and to work as a foil for Tabs. With our forward production being a lot of our problem and Tabs being a bit Jekyll and Hyde with his goal kicking, realistically, there are going to be games where Treacy is going to be the one we are going to need to kick 3-4 goals. Not to mention times where Tabs may have to pinch-hit in the ruck (particularly in the forward half) and Treacy will be left one out deep inside 50.

He could very well become more important to the side than anyone is expecting.

If he has multiple games kicking 3-4 goals as an 18 yo key forward, he should start making space for the rising star award on his mantle piece in September as that’s Nick Riewoldt debut season level impact you are talking there.
I hope you are right but my expectations are not quite as high. 10 games and 10 goals would be a very decent effort for a player of that age taken in that position in the draft.

What are you supposed to do when the mistakes are clear as day even for a numpty like me

Going into the season with our list so unbalanced with defenders is nothing short of idiotic

Having a promising young side after 5yrs of rebuilding is a given and not really worth celebrating till you start making some ground on the good sides

If Treacy does enough, then Fyfe can play more midfield minutes and the backline talls can stay where they are. If Treacy shows he isn't ready, then Fyfe and a KPD will have to go forward more than we would like. I think that's why his importance ranking is where it is.

Treacy is a long way from our only option though with a logjam of tall players sitting in the backline or on the bench, Darcy looking close to ready and provide a ruck pairing, plus Fyfe and Mundy. My expectation is that Treacy plays a minor role this year. With the same line of thinking, Meek could be in that top 10.

He's extremely important now, Lobb is down and this kid is being thrown into the deep end, I'm all for it.

Fremantle are sweating on the outcome of an incident involving potential debutant Josh Treacy during a WAFL pre-season clash on Saturday.
The rookie forward’s high tackle on Brady Grey in Peel Thunder’s big win over Perth in Mandurah ended the Demons recruit’s day midway through the first quarter.
Grey was still feeling the effects of the concussion the following day and will be sidelined for the next fortnight, leaving him with no more match practice before round one against West Coast at Mineral Resources Park on April 2.
A free-kick was awarded but Treacy wasn’t reported by the on-field umpires at the time.
The West Australian understands Perth will meet this morning as they weigh up taking it further, with the WAFL Match Review Panel also likely to look at the footage.
A suspension would be a disastrous outcome for the Dockers, with Treacy firming for an opening-round debut against Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday.
Fremantle have already lost fellow tall Rory Lobb to a knee injury, while ruckman Sean Darcy (also knee) is no certainty to face the Demons, making the 18-year-old’s availability all the more important.

Midfielder Darcy Tucker went down with another hamstring injury against Perth, joining Michael Walters (hamstring), Bailey Banfield (ankle), Mitch Crowden (calf) and Michael Frederick (calf) in the Dockers’ casualty concerning casualty ward.

Doesn't look good for Treacy if Grey was still feeling symptoms the next day.

Treacy's tackle did not look high to me from the grandstand. It was a hard wrap tackle of Brady Grey and brought him to the ground pretty hard. Looked to me as if Grey had the wind knocked out of him. May have banged his head on the turf as he was brought to ground but the tackle was not high....just hard.

The boys on Hard Ball Gets have all backed us to win 11 games or over. I don’t know how to react to this positivity.

I'd like to know which 11 games they had us winning. I wonder how they called the derbies.

This happened right in front of me, Grey ducked into the tackle and Treacy got him high and the most damaged seemed to happen when they fell over with Treacy landing on him, honestly should of been play on as he ducked, so after applying the fremantle negative discount at the tribunal we’ll see Treacy debut in 2022.
