Well WC have about 24-25 players on their list from WA.
A proven track history of success
so we should be different right?
Then how many players do they lose interstate?
A team from Fremantle should have a WA bias?

Going with that theory we shouldn't draft kids from WA as their is a history of injuries with Logue and Morabito.

Such a small minded view. Pick the best player and create an environment that will allow the players to succeed and they will stay.

The constant uninformed speculation on Cerra leaving Freo on BF in particular since he was drafted is exhausting.

Players like Pavlich and Mundy are proof that elite inter state talent will stay if provided the right situation whether that be pay, lifestyle or work environment.

If Cerra does decide to leave club needs to look at what they can do to hold onto interstate talent better, not stop drafting them.

We wouldn't have drafted Brayshaw if that was the club policy.

Pavlich and Mundy staying here are proof that we can retain interstate players, sure. But it doesn't mean that it's a recipe for success.

It could be proof that it doesn't work depending on your perspective. West Coasts key position players are almost all West Australian. They have flags to go with it. So I think anybody could reasonably argue that it's more important for team success to have most of the best 22 not being paid a premium to stay in a state they don't originate from.

I know he’s just trying to be relevant building a Radio career but could you imagine if he actually got a coaching gig and had these views. He would create such division in a club it would be a toxic environment.

Sumich is the biggest advocate for drafting local. I think that sums up it’s merit.

Draft the player you think will be best, state should only come into it if the picks are borderline. Cerra was best at his pick and even if he leaves at the end of the year it was the right decision imo.

The news re. Cerra seems more positive, but I always worry about the players from interstate with partners who are also from interstate, only one of them has to want to go.

Anyway, we’ll see what happens, Garlick didn’t seem too worried, and the fact he said talks are going well rather than that they would deal with it at the end of the year seems positive.
