Ballantyne, S.Hill, should still be in their prime, what the **** has happened to these guys. They are atrocious at the moment. Playing like first year players.

Tucker’s career is very stagnant, why? 3rd year midfielders usually start to hit their straps. He seems treacle slow, doesn’t our strength and conditioning staff know that. Shouldn’t he be shredding that upper body bulk and building his core. Add some ****ing pace god damn it.

What the **** is going on with strength and conditioning? Why are we constantly labouring? Our players are injured over and over again. We hit the middle of the year and nearly always have the longest injury list.

Agree about our strength and conditioning. I heard during the week that Sandilands wasn't training with main squad.Fyfe was rubbing his hammy earlier in the game too.

We should always have a key position type as our emergency because that is where we are most vulnerable if something happens.

We need to review rehab area because our players always seem to take a long time to recover from injuries as well. It could be bad luck or is it bad management

Lyon in his presser:

“So it’s not ideal but soft tissue injuries happen, our sports science team have been very good for a long period of time and these things happen. Some things are out of your control.“

What a complete load of horseshit.

Unless we completely gut the fitness staff, this club is guaranteed to go nowhere. And it is very alarming if the powers that be can’t see the undeniable evidence staring them in the face for years.

I would really like to see an analysis of player availability at each club over the last 5 years or so. This would give a good picture of where we sit on conditioning.

I think the problem with S. Hill Ballantyne and players of their vintage is that when you have played Ross Lyon football for so long it’s taxing and the older blokes struggle. It would be bloody hard running back and then sprinting 150 metres to create an option time and time again.

Firstly Ballas is a fair bit older than hilly and needs to be dropped.

Secondly we arent playing hill as an inside or outside mid. We aren't even playing him in his third most influential position as a loose defender. He is being played as a one on one shut down HBF. When your mids are getting dominated and the team decides to go slow and long down the line that is a crap role to play.

If he is injured rest him. Otherwise play him inside mid and he will be instantly 10x better.

Also - WTF were we doing starting cox on the bench. Oh no Sandi and no tall fwd in the team.... answer = start Cox on the bench! STUPIDITY!

The benches are named 90 minutes before the game. With Sandi's very late out, you can't change him on field. The original structure would have been Apeness forward and Sandi rucking. Apeness can go in the ruck but Nyhuis (as Sandi's in) comes on the field.

I cannot state strongly enough how much I want Ballas to **** right off. He's been shit for 2 years at least he should not be playing.

Ballas would have been gone 2 years ago if either Bennell or Yarran had worked out. He's really been in the side by default since then.

I am going to roast Walters here, probably a bit harsh but stuff it. I am getting a bit over his constant hamming it up for free kicks and ducking his head into contests. He will either break his neck or win a razzy for piss poor acting skills. Maybe even both.

I personally hated his demanding for the ball. The one where he ran around the back of Brayshaw to his non preferred and trapped himself stunk of U16 stat padding rubbish.

The other one from Neale and then he basically just fell over and threw it out was also comical.

He had an absolute stinker and his efforts to lift the team worked in the opposite as he was just turd.

Anyway, we move on.

Forgot about that. Geez that was horrendous. Reminded me of Jack Anthony. Shudder.

Embarrassing yet again, least we beat Adelaide and bombers unlike west coast, how Ross still has a job “because he plays the youth” is beyond me, brisbane and Carlton are laughable as a club we’re not much better, we haven’t improved or looked like improving since mid 2015 now we are just going backwards, we must be one of the only clubs who constantly fail, even when we do well in the draft we constantly fail, ship out the old players to rebuild, but still play crappy old players, man anyone could see pav was retiring and McPharlin yet we kept drafting broken down mids, actually I guess “we took a risk” same shit with Sandi, only now are we trying Cox and apeness, sort of little too late yet again

Excellent melt but the President and CEO needed some stick too.

Players played in unusual positions. Since when is Hill a lock down HB?! So ineffective. His best are in the guts, he got 2 goals 20 odd disposals in the 2013 QF win against Geelong. That's his best, he's underrated in that position. Actually stronger then his looks. But Ross just moves him out from the action and no wonder he's struggling.
His career has stagnated and Ross does this to many players.

Banfield got into the team at the start of the season by playing high Forward in the pre season. Now he's a tagger, which doesn't matter with a youth line up. Play him forward ffs.

Cerra and Brayshaw need to be made in the stoppages group for the rest of the season. Let them learn, get a sniff of what it's like. The seasons over, we loss by 50 odd with a older midfield. Now just give the youngsters a chance, roll the dice. Couldn't care less now that we're still getting thrashed, might as well lose by the same with youth in the middle.

I’d go for since he did his hammy against Norf last year, he had a really good start last year, then seemingly played injured the rest of the year.

Playing Hill off the half back has been failing since 2016. Boggles the mind why he is still being played there

Huh?

Beams 28, Christensen 27, Stef 31, Zorko 29, Robinson 29. Against Neale 25, Walters (maybe) 27, Fyfe for a quarter (26). Melt away but at least try and be in the realms of reality.

It's not horseshit

Is Freo the only team you watch?

There's a lot of confirmation bias going on in regards to our medical staff

One of the WAFL conditioning coaches said "Fyfe's too big, he'll get injured" when he saw him first game this year.

Looks like he could make the rowing team at the Olympics though. Oh wait ...

Confirmation bias? Hardly. More like simply confirmation as each year passes by.

I watch a lot of football, not just Freo. Yes, other teams have big injury lists as well. Doesn't mean we should excuse our own very poor record.

And it very much is bollocks what Lyon said. Until the blowtorch is applied to the relevant people and someone accepts responsibility, then nothing will improve.
