Conspiracy Theory The Moon landing - 40 years on

Buzz Aldrin flat out says the moon landing didnt happen

A review of Aldrin's full comments reveals he was saying that there was no "scariest moment" during the mission, not that the moon landing "didn't happen." The full clip shows him talking extensively about the details of the mission.
...
The full video of the event, which can be found on YouTube, shows that while Aldrin initially said "it didn't happen" in response to the question about the "scariest moment," he was not referring to the mission itself. Upon further prompting, he recounts how at one point while on the moon he discovered a broken circuit breaker on the floor of the lunar module. The Instagram video cuts off these remarks.

But you're happy to waste your time responding to something you didn't watch.
Amazing take considering you clearly didn't bother going to the original source and are happy to take a video snippet on social media and the accompanying framing as gospel :drunk:

Took me all of 5 mins to find the full context.

Some replies....

-298 degrees fahrenheit in a vacuum, in nothingness, is as insulating as it can be, no convection, no conduction, just radiation loss within the suit.
in the daytime, on the other hand, completely safe in the shade, but in the sun you will catch fire.
the moon does not exist

---

Put a roll of film through the airport X-Ray machine and it would been ruined. Is another little thing they forgot about. Happened to us in the 80s 🤷‍♂️😂

----

The scotch tape would release from the cardboard and tin foil

----

You can’t bring film back through the van allen belt, it will destroy it

They lost the technology to go to the moon or as they say. Unbelievable!

The lander was made out of special highly-advanced super-cardboard…the likes of which will never be seen again as the technology has been lost lol.

You can't bring film back in through your Van Allen belts... As for the ones that actually exist, just don't hang the camera out the window as you pass through them.

GC,

Wonder what will happen with the 'man's never been to the moon' conspiracy theories after this crew return to Earth without issues..?

1) an Orion promo from several years ago had a NASA guy faux pas "man will finally be able to travel out of the atmosphere and to the moon, and wr will test the radiation levels, if man can survive".....so it's basically admitting the Apollo missions were fake

2) NASA reckons they lost the technology of Apollo and thats one reason why they've never been back to the moon....how stupid do they think people are to say that....well theyre not wrong, a lot of gullible people buy the moon landings.

3) the tech of Apollo was absurd to think today was capable of going to the moon, aluminum and duct tape etc. Ridiculous.

4) if the Orion mission is genuinely able to go to the moon and back, that doesn't mean they did so with Apollo.

Ah, the old 'killer radiation conspiracy theory' - vs widely known accepted documented factual history:

1. In early 1958 the first successful US satellite Explorer 1 was launched, it's payload included scientific instruments of which one was designed to measure proton and electron radiation.

2. Many similar such launches would follow throughout the Mercury project and into the Gemini project era - so by the time the Apollo project and missions were in full swing during the mid sixties the amount of scientific data/knowledge known about the magnetosphere; it's altitude, energy density, measurement of rads etc. resulted in Apollo 8's successful manned mission to the moon which returned to earth without any major issues.

3. In fact Apollo astronauts passed through the magnetosphere (aka 'the Van Allen belts') in a few hours and received less exposure than a hospital CT scan..!

4. It's also 'fact' that the international space station and earth based related intruments have been measuring the nuances of the magnetosphere for many years, so one can safely assume this is pretty low on NASA concerns for it's current missions...

That's the Earthrise photo on his wall taken in 1968, 7-8 months before this phone call.

:drunk:

How dare you post those nasty 'facts'...

Yes, the iconic photo on the President's office wall was taken by Jim Lovell out the window of Apollo 8 during thier lunar orbit in December 1968.

The image on Nixon's wall is this one and can be found here: https://history.nasa.gov/afj/ap08fj/photos/14-b/hr/as08-14-2383hr.jpg

A study matched this image, as well as several hundreds of images taken from the Apollo missions, to images from weather satellites and synoptic charts from around the world.

The weather pattern stretching over South America shown on the left of the above image from a weather satellite, running from the yellow arrow to the light blue arrow is so obviously a match, as well as the pattern shown with the green arrow, it staggers me how anyone can say this photo came from somewhere other than the moon.

The study also compared multiple images from the moon landing missions as well that conclusively prove were taken from the moon.

Just more nasty 'facts', stop it and given this evidence you're also upsetting the 'flat earth' loonies....

I recently listened to this as an audiobook on a very long drive and highly recommend it. Really interesting to get the history of the Apollo 8 program, the people involved and lots of additional history of the space program particularly leading up to Apollo 8. Jim Lovell lived a hell of a life, nearly a month of it in space.
