The Music Draft!

[PVF]

Welcome to the Music Draft, the place where you try to draft the best music collection out of everyone else!

This idea was create in the Movie board by the great JP Sauce and has been very popular so I'm hoping this one is even more popular!

This is how it works:
-A draft order is set to draft from categories that we make up ourselves
-Each player will get different draft picks in each category going in order for eg In the first round if you have the 5th pick then in the second round you will have the 4th pick. The draft keeps going until everyone has selected from every category.
- After the draft a poll will be created for people to vote on who they think has made the best music collection from all their picks.
- Everyone will be selecting Albums from each category.

I'm looking for about 10 posters at the moment but if we get alot of people wanting to play then I can split it into two divisions depending on numbers.

- 90's Grunge
- Number 1 Albums in the 70's
-Albums that sold over 20 million copies

One of my pet hates. He's not related to HBK. There's no s on the end of his name.

Will it just be albums? Or will we also be drafting artists/bands and songs. Personally I'd like a consistent mode so it's easier to compare at the end.

Just on the categories - make sure they're not too broad. For example "90's Alternative" has 100 albums that I'd happily take. It depends how many people end up playing I guess, but it shouldn't be 100% easy.

This one should just be albums I reckon, then the next one can be bands or whatever else PVF decides.

I probably agree with this. Maybe we should have some more specific categories like Beatles albums or even something tricky like recorded live albums. Since its the end of the year 2012 albums would be a good one.

Other tricky ones I can think of are studio albums from musicals or Christmas albums. I see the need for something like this because for something broad like 90s alternative rock when we get to compare lists it will come down to splitting hairs over personal preference because we should all get seething we're comfortable with.

It should work out if we keep the categories diverse, have a rap category or female artist category. A debut albums category would be fun I think as well.

Some cool suggestions I think. Not everyone will love every category but that's the way these things work and it's what make it fun. You might end up loving something you've never heard before. A good range of categories that aren't too broad or too specific is what we need.

I like the Beatles category but I would like to see a Vs category for them like in the movie draft.

So here's a few more category suggestions from me:
-Battle of the English, The Beatles Vs The Rolling Stones
-Woodstock (with this one you can a pick an album from one of the the acts that played there, however no-one else can use that act if they have been drafted for eg. If someone picked a Hendrix album then no-one else can pick a Hendrix album)
- Movie Soundtracks
-Albums before 1960(I'm sure this one would be harder than people think )
-Produced by Rick Rubin
-Australian 80's Albums
