I don't mind it but I wish the umps would say "Hold" rather than "Stand". It sounds stupid.
I agree. Umps only need to be heard when they’re making a decision. If one team knows the rules (or knows how to exploit the rules) and the other doesn’t then that should be their advantage. It shouldn’t be nullified by an umpire telling them to stand or move it on.They should not say anything, in Auskick umpires can say stand but at the elite level players should not need or get any instructions from umpires. It’s why I call it the Auskick Football league

Nonsense. Richmond are putrid to watch.
They are the worst offenders when it comes to clogging up the game and slowing it up.
It becomes a skillless mess. Fortunately for them and the general public, they have Dusty and Edwards to add some polish and interest.

But aren't they allowed to move, until the umpire says "Stand"?
lavender Bushranger wants netball. He wants the opposition to freely move the ball down the ground then have a shot with little or no pressure.Which is my point exactly. It isn't Richmond clogging up games. Richmond try to score basically at all times they have the ball.
Were there any shockers paid over the weekend? At the Dogs game last night I honestly didn't even remotely notice it, I don't think any 50m penalties were given. Players will adapt quickly and I'm sure we'll forget about it soon enough 'if' the umpires are reasonable and don't pay over the top ridiculous penalties, and save it for the very obvious ones.
the AFL LOVE fans like you.I don’t mind it. I was filthy with it at the start when it was announced but I’m eating humble pie on it. As long as umps call play on the very moment the player with the ball takes a side step then I’m ok with it. It’s currently allowing players to wheel and go without pressure - not sure it was designed for that but it works. Still can’t get my head around how umps can watch two players but hey so far so good.

Nah, you just swallow the shovel of shit they serve up to you every time.Yeah I suspect the more fans with a sense or reason and without a debilitating level of pride make sports easier to administrate I suspect

You have to admit that the principals office does provide us a lot to react to.
