Roast The New UI Is Bad

I'm surprised I haven't seen more venting about this.

Who the hell thought that this new 'card' user interface was a good idea? I genuinely think a six year old could make a more intuitive UI - the AFL have essentially made it take one extra click to do everything thing year.

Not only this, but the new Advanced Trades interface is borderline unusable. If you need to make a quick advanced trade 5 minutes before lockout good luck. I ended up just trying random click combinations until it worked because the website gives the most basic error messages imaginable.

Can we please change the UI back? Please Gil?

The reality of AFL Fantasy is that user satisfaction isnt on their list of priorities. The developers have clearly never played the game and their "support" is only interested in brushing people off rather then actually providing support.

My league match ups show my team as of the previous week on the Samsung app, only my "team" setting shows my true score or on desktop.

Has tripled the mouse clicks. The ground view is so small and hard to read. Just pure garbage.

Just joined from RDT / SC. Completely trash UI. Feels so clunky, and ruins the whole experience. Probably spent all their money on advertising and got the grad to make it.

This is during the full lock out too. My app still shows me as having Grundy VC, Clark on the field (I benched him for Scrimshaw) and my 2 trades aren't showing. My opponent also shows Grundy as VC, but when I view it on desktop the changes are shown and he also did the Danger loophole.

It's even worse for draft. There's no field view and if want to check transactions for your league, current free agents or current restricted agents they are all on different pages instead of one like last year.

It would be so much cost and experience effective to improve on the previous year's design than rebuild for every season.

I get the impression they only hand out 1 year contracts to the software designers.

I think there's an argument that fantasy is a better way to grow the game oversees than AFLX

Yeah it seems Android is completely rubbish
Iphone is at least passable, as it’s quite similar to last year.

Absolute garbage interface, really poor design and just sloppy, poor coding.

How do you get it to display a full ground view - can't seem to get it back to that?

Looking at players in a list view just sucks....and trading seems almost impossible!

It's kinda amazing, they've put out not one but two applications!

It's missing a whole bunch of functionality around how your season is tracking (all the graphs and the table of weekly postions/team price). That was one thing I really enjoyed each week, going through and seeing how I was fairing compared to previous weeks.

I really hope they update it as the season goes on rather than leave and new release till next year.

I have no idea how to advance trade.

for example I want to move setterfield to the midfield and trade out gibbons and replace the empty forward spot......but how the hell do i do this?

If someone could please explain how to advance trade on this pile of chit UI

Seems stock standard to release a half cooked app and fix it slowly to the point where its halfway usable in time for finals?

This years is particularly cooked.

Can't even look at my matchup for the week on android half the time as I'm 'sneaking a peak' at my opponent.... WHAT!?

Sorting by matching or position makes no difference and seems almost completely random. Impossible to discern who is on the field who isn't. Traded players arent shown in the matchup.

Without adding up my scores manually I've got 0 confidence in whatever it says my matchup scores are each week.

We have a rubbish UI this season for 1 reason - some web designer that works for the AFL needs to keep their job. Its that simple.

Last years UI had some flaws but was decent. A few minor improvements would really have made it top notch. But those few minor improvements wouldnt need much work would they? Very hard to justify a 40 hour week wage when your job requires half that. How can someone prove to the AFL they are needed full time? Lets start the Fantasy website from scratch and completely mess it up. Not only do you get to waste time creating a brand new UI - you then you get to spend all season fixing the problems and responding to complaints.

This year just off the top of my head the list of things missing which were included in previous years UI:
- No Lockout countdown timer
- No drag and drop feature
- when trading, cant order players by price descending
- no bye planning feature
- have to "load more" when looking at players not in your team.

The flip cards feature is a disgrace. Adds an extra mouse click every time you want to swap, choose captain or vicecaptain, trade. It flips all other cards so you cant see the information on the first side of their cards. Its a colossal. But thats what the web designer was aiming for. Because now he/she has all season to collect an income and waltz into work fixing up the mistakes they purposely created.

The app is worse than the site, to the point it doesnt even read the latest info from the site. Whole weekend the app hadnt registered my trades or displayed my latest team. How hard is that to do ffs!

This cannot be true. AFL would have to own it, surely? How dumb are they to give it up. Also find it hard to believe they wouldn't simply hire a web developer in their IT department rather than outsourcing this work at a significantly higher rate/cost
