Liverpool FC,
I had something dawn on me today which i thought would be worth sharing.I was down the park today with my kids having a kick with the footy when a little kid come up to me and said i have th same cap as you. i was wearing my cats hat. He then went on to say he had a jumper as well with the number 29.

I then though if Gary does leave who will wear the next number 29. I couldnt imagine to guess how many kids already have this on there jumper.

Just intersted in peoples thoughts.

They wont keep him know he has done his Knee will they? Didnt he have to be elavated next year up fromn the rookie list.

Are you kidding?
Some say he's going to be better than trav. Can't give up on someone because of a knee.

I have a jumper with 29 on it.

lol @ Varcoe, another Varcoe to take the next available Ablett number :D

There's also now a third year rookie rule.

On the jumper, it would have to be a young kid as senior players don't usually change jumpers. I'd like to get Tenace off Menzel's back, so maybe him.

Well you can't imagine anyone wanting to change into it. Then it would be an insight to see if the club would hold it off for a year, like Harley, or give it straight to a draftee. I like the other Varcoe proposal though :D

The only problem with setting the number aside is that (assuming 2 and 19 stay set aside) then somebody would have to wear 50. That seems a little uncommon to me, but hey, if one of our rookies doesn't mind wearing 50, then I suppose it doesn't matter.

I don't like the idea of retiring it to honour a player who has walked out of the club - I'd just give it to a draftee personally.

agreed. Harley retired, Egan was forced out through injury - fair enough reasons to keep the numbers dormant for a while - Ablett's legacy would be diminished the moment he slips into the GC abomination that they've greenlighted for a jumper. Give it to the other Varcoe, give it to Taylor Hunt, give it to anyone - but don't revere it as a sacred number anymore.

Thanks to one K. Hinkley, it will always be a sacred number to me.:thumbsu:

Tom Gillies next future star or if not him most highly rated youngster of this years draft that we snag.
