Is in the top handful of young forwards, you forget he's pretty much the same height as Nick Riewoldt. Agile as they come, as goal #4 and #5 showed tonight.


Can often be caught showboating but it came off tonight with those two goals, and his other four were good forward play.

Never said he is as good as him....Take it how you want...more that his style was similar, evasive, quick and and jump at it. PLays taller. I did say hasn't started the season great but still only 5 goals off leading goal kicker Josh Kennedy (16).Yeah, didn't turn it on at all in the hawks game. Shit conditions against a great defensive unit. Playing at Etihad suits him a lot. His only just warming up......He'll play a few bad games but still confident he'll kick more than 50 goals this year. Injuries could prove me wrong.

Stringer played as a midfielder against the hawks due to injuries to Wallis, Bontempelli and Boyd and really didn't have much impact as a midfielder. I think he spent some time with Hodge and IMO Stringer isn't really going to be a gun mid during his career. But what he has is genuine ability to play as a KPF, he's the same height as Pavlich/James Frawley so he should definitely be considered as a tall, but his point of difference is that he is such a threat at ground level not just in the air. Speed, power, finishing ability on the run he has got it all.

In his last 13 games since he returned to senior level he has kicked 33 goals thats more than all of J.Riewoldt, N.Riewoldt, J.Gunston, J.Cameron, T.Cloke and T.Hawkins have individually in their past 13 games.

Not suggesting he's at those guys level but I think he could be in there (A grade forward group) in 5 - 6 games time if he keeps his current form up, which it doesn't look like slowing down.

I have said he has buddy franklin like traits but I think a better comparison is Brendan Fevola. That classic leadup forward who is strong overhead, great on the lead and a threat at ground level.

I don't normally like talking up young players...As much as I love Bontempelli, I think Jake will be our most talented player in the future. His untapped potential is scary. Bookmark this, without any setbacks or injuries, He will kick 50plus goals this season and really make a name in the league. He reminds me of Gary Ablett srn. What do others think of him? some of his highlights in his short career.

I was saying to my mate Last year he has all the attributes to be a top 10 player in the league and reminds me of a young Gazza Jr. Is an absolute jet Glad I'm not the only one who sees it.

Na the Bonts is a mile ahead imo. Stringer usually gets the 2nd or 3rd defender whilst the Bonts has had the number 1 tagger every week.

By the time he's 25 he will be playing a part in a very scary midfield. Slimmed down a little - tall, strong and able to cut a swathe through packs. Think David Mundy.
And by then Bonts may already have a Brownlow in his pocket, McCrae and Libba will be AA players and the Dogs may well get their chance at that 2nd flag.

He will be a star but he is hard to judge for me. He is so powerful and strong and is sort of a key position forward but isn't a great mark. He is also more dangerous on the run then set shot IMO. He doesn't really play like anyone else in the league, Jack Darling is the closet I can think of. I think he would be better suited staying mostly as a second forward with short stints in the midfield but he should remain predominantly forward. Will be a gun but I'd still take Bonts without a second thought.
