I noticed it a few times. Thought he was in good position to get the ball first but elected to hold back and snag the tackle.

Again. This time his man got it out to a teammate who Will immediately took down. I'm calling it, deliberately taking back position in and under. I'd ask if the first have any tagging opportunities coming up but I reckon Will's guy has gotten the clearance a few too many times.

Hell of a game from Phillips, 22 disposals, 21 tackles, 3 marks and 152 ranking points. Don’t have the stats but would’ve had 8+ clearances.

Scott really good with his run and carry but tapered off in the last quarter.

W.Dawson competed hard all day, few missed chances in front of the big sticks. Couple of big bone crunching tackles and he competed really hard in the air.

Banch kicked 3 first quarter goals, and missed a couple of gettable shots in the 2nd half. Clean at ground level and creative when disposing.

Payne’s tackling (11) was fantastic but I still question if he has a role at AFL level. His disposal is very suspect.

Bit of an off game for Maley, competed hard and had a really big contested mark to start off the game, but just didn’t quite capitalise on our dominance. Brought the ball to ground a lot but just didn’t get many clean chances when he was playing as a deep forward.

Goady had a couple of good highlights, 2 really solid contested marks and a couple of clean clearances where he showed his athleticism.

Urqhaurt had a really strong first half but tapered off in the 2nd half. Didn’t seem to be around the ball as much so maybe they were managing his minutes.

CCJ was CCJ, couple of good moments, couple of moments where he took the wrong option. Got out marked a few too many times by Sam Azzi who is 10cm and probably 10kg lighter than him.

George 2nd half showed why we rewarded him with a two year deal even with his injuries. Kid is so dynamic. Didn’t get heaps of it but had two incredible highlights including the one arm hanger and a beautiful snap from 35. Think he’ll end up being a low possession high impact type.

Whitlock and K.Dawson (along with Tomlinson) were dominant behind the ball, plenty of intercepts and generally used it well too.

Ford started slowly, but found his groove in the 2nd half. Couple of really nice intercepts and kicks off half back that lead to shots on goal.

Duursma again had a few good moments, but ultimately not much impact from his 12 disposals. His intensity for mine still isn’t up to scratch, never seems to get out of first gear and it seemed like he was being heavily rotated.

River had a few okay moments but ultimately not much impact.

A strong VFL side augurs well for the future.
And finals any finals would do wonders for me this year.

Will Dawson competes well. Takes a good grab outstretched on the lead. Goes well at ground level. Has plenty of campaigner about him. He also really hoofs the ball when he’s kicking from around fifty.

For his age, is a really promising tall prospect. Could be the forward / relief ruck as early as next year.
