So just a concluding observation, and I should acknowledge I'm guilty of being a club loyalist and thus prone to see silver linings where none may exist, but IMO the list is in good shape.

It's not so long ago I'd go to these games and our "VFL program" was made up of Jacob Edwards and half a dozen fly-in, fly-out kids from Tasmania.

In comparison today we had the following players on one year deals - K Dawson, Phillips, Bergman, Hansen, Harvey, Payne, Maley (then you can add in Pink and Teakle too, away in SA).

All of these players are serious footballers, maybe not to AFL level and so inevitably some are going to get cut. But the point is the standard is high.

It might be another false dawn on my part, but if the ground floor rises, then hopefully the top floor will as well

Glad to hear Phillips looked to have stepped it up a notch. He needs to find a way to get his hands on the footy more regularly.

He should be at the level now where he racks up 30+ if he is playing in the minor leagues.

Thanks Merlin, I was there for the whole thing today. Agree was weird watching WilPhil move like he did. Made me wonder if his limitations really have been somewhat increased by illness and that comes and goes as it lingers with him? Anyway I dont know s$$$ about that stuff but was the best I have seen him move across the ground in any game. Seemed really sharp.

Becoming increasingly pleased with Geordie Paynes progress as well , seems to get to dangerous spot more than many of our other forwards do.

Won’t mean a thing the same players come in same get dropped try something new drop a name or 2 and make them stay in the VFL for a bit.
It’s time to put the whole list on notice supporters are sick and tired of this BS that goes on week in and week out.
