Watching the 2022 seasons docus, it was interesting to hear Coach Kelly's name mentioned more than once. Looks to be highly respected. I like him because there is no flash about him, just honest, hard working and with good sense.
Could he be in line to take CS's job when he decides to call it?
I get that the club might prefer to look 'externally' again when the time comes. After all, it worked out for us this time around.
But Kels appears to be tracking fantastically well on the coaching front. Seems to bring a great mix of footy smarts, relatability to players, knowledge of when to relax and when to switch on, and a inherent ability not to take himself too seriously as well. You can see him coaching like he played - with a hard edge, a dose of flair and a desire to do it all with a team-first attitude.
On current evidence, I'd be absolutely delighted if the GFC looked closely at him as a prospect for the top job when the time comes.
