Hmmm. The Footy Show, no game analysis, no game reviews, no discussion on the previous round's umpiring or rules of the game in general.
There are football players on there, usually answering questions about fashion, their hair or twitter account and how hot their girlfriend is.
They do preview the teams for that week and offer tips based on nothing sensible other than their form averaged over the last 5 years.

For reasons that could only be supposed hunger for footy info & entertainment, I used to record the show every week. Oddly enough, for all the other shit on that show, what finally tipped it off my list of crap to watch, was Sam Newman so passionately defending Hird and the Bombers from the scurrilous lies about their ASADA breaches. I could simply take no more.

Same story, pretty much. Search the guides on the associated channels (go or gem & such) then set the recorder.

Depends on wear your interest lie. If it is the latest up to date news you want, you're barking up the wrong tree, unless you want to watch at midnight.
If it's just to see/hear what commentators are saying about topics, you could probably just search vids on the interwebs 24 hours after broadcast.
Not sure how many shows are shown on FTA up here, I never bother. They pretty much have nothing to say about Brisbane, and when they do, it's generally wrong.

The reason it's at 12pm is because they have their TV slots and they don't factor in DST when giving them out. Stupid.

The reason it was given the 1pm timeslot anyway is incomprehensible.

The Sunday FTA game is Melbourne v West Coast. It will be shown at the interesting time of 3.20pm AEDT which I assume is to allow it to pick up viewers in WA (a 1pm start time would mean a midday broadcast in WA).

Even allowing for the WA viewership, I can't see that a game involving Melbourne would somehow be more attractive to viewers than a game involving Geelong. In fact, if I were a Geelong supporter, I'd be pissed off at the lack of FTA coverage for a match against a side that Geelong really struggled against last year.

The AFL scrapped them being automatically earned but retained the right to award them at its discretion.

They had a hearing on whether to give Melbourne one last year and decided not to. Another year like they look like having and they're probably going to get one.
