2. Len Johnson
3. Fred Freer

An Aussie XI in players by the best in that fielding position (That I've seen, for the opening bowlers, who will be McGrath and Lee)

Keeper: Adam Gilchrist
1st slip: Matthew Hayden
2nd slip: Ricky Ponting
3rd slip: Steve Smith
Gully: Michael Hussey
Point: Michael Clarke
Mid-off: Patrick Cummins
Mid-on: Nathan Lyon
Short Leg: Cameron Bancroft
Fine Leg: Lee/McGrath

In an XI format:

Cameron Bancroft
Matthew Hayden
Ricky Ponting
Steve Smith
Michael Clarke
Michael Hussey
Adam Gilchrist
Patrick Cummins
Brett Lee
Nathan Lyon
Glenn McGrath

Obviously Bancroft is the weak link in there. I was tempted to go Marnus short leg, Lyon at point and Warner at mid-on but eh, Bangers is the better SL

Andrew Symonds can't get a spot in the ring?

Andrew Symonds can't get a spot in the ring?
Yeah, probably could have him instead of Clarke, otherwise I still wanted a balanced side, hence Cummins/Lyon as pure bowlers and Bangers as an opener

ACT would have decent bowling attack; Behrendof, Winter, Rogers & Lyon. Batting wise only Alex Ross springs to mind.

For me Warne goes to second slip, Ponting to gully and Huss to short leg. Sure that gives 6 batsmen, but when they are who they are, I’d back them to out score anything those 5 bowlers kept the opposition to.

Didn't realise Winter was from the ACT, thought he was a SACA. Hmm. Slide Valente into the side then I guess.

Ponting is the best second slip I've seen but i anything Warne would go to first and Hayden to gully (who fielded there when Warney was around) and it would give me an excuse to put Symonds in for Lyon... Done! Now for an ODI version:

Keeper: Adam Gilchrist
1st slip: Matthew Hayden
2nd slip: Ricky Ponting
Point: Michael Clarke
Cover: Andrew Symonds
Mid-Off: Steve Smith
Mid-On: Nathan Lyon
Square Leg: Glenn Maxwell
Fine Leg: Mitchell Johnson
3rd man: Patrick Cummins
Bowler: Mitchell Starc

When Aaqid Javed came over in the early 90s he was barely pubescent according to the Pakistanis but possessed a fine five o'clock shadow.
I did know a guy who had a genuine Hashim Amla beard at 16, but Aaqib Javed's age always did seem a bis sus. He did play FC cricket until 2002/3 which would have made him 31, so maybe not as far off as thought. Quicks often do retire early, and he was out of international contention by then, so maybe. Births were (are) not always recorded in a timely manner, if at all, in parts of Pakistan - so there may well have been some guesswork.

The new Cricket Captain game finally has World XI teams when you go into the tournament section, so that gave me an idea about who could you put in an all time World XI vs Asia XI since it's a bit over 10 years since the Tsunami. For me:

World XI:

Jack Hobbs (c)
Herbert Sutcliffe
George Headley
Jacques Kallis
Greg Chappell
Garry Sobers
Adam Gilchrist (+)
Richard Hadlee
Malcolm Marshall
Shane Warne
Jim Laker/Glenn McGrath (depending on sub continental or elsewhere)

Asia XI:

Sunil Gavaskar (c)
Virendar Sehwag
Kumar Sangakkara
Sachin Tendulkar
Mohammed Yousuf
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (+)
Imran Khan
Kapil Dev
Wasim Akram
Anil Kumble
Muttiah Muralitharan

Was Bradman a deliberate omission

I've enjoyed this thread a lot (and contributed a bit to it also) but I've only just noticed the misspelling in the title. Not like me at all!

Something I saw posted elsewhere. A Test Cricket XI of 80+ year olds. It's a few months out of date so some players celebrated their next birthday already, but everyone in the team is still alive!

That team, even today, would give the Windies a tough match.
