I agree that music was better years ago - that doesn't mean there isn't some good music produced today.

I actually like KoL (seen them four times) although only rate their first three albums. The last AM's album was really good - although not a big fan of their early stuff unlike most.

That music is as good as anything the 90s had to offer for rock and the 80s too. I don't think it stacks up to the very best from the 60s snd 70s though - that music is probably untouchable now. Although yes I understand what you are saying about personal connections heightening music - but my era is 80's/90's not 60's/70's so my connection to my favourite artists in that sense is less.

I like the Beatles but do you think they would excel in this day and age? Many of those bands were able to create entirely new and interesting things at a time when they weren't really around. It's much harder in the modern era to truly create something unique and different, which is probably why you see all that crap EDM because people are using tools that make it easier to create a sound.

Yes it's an interesting theory. The Beatles created such standards that it's entirely possible that songs like Let it Be, Help etc could exist in a very similar form written by another band. It is something we will never know. You talk about there now being less room for artists to grow (perhaps an admittance we've reached a peak) but again, is it just because something is hindering our creativity? Something we are being taught from a young age, or something in the cultural environment that is stunting artistic growth? We just don't know the answer, but to me, something has definitely changed

Im not one to judge people on their tastes as everyone likes different things.

I really dont care much for the 70s stuff outside of late 70s Oz/Brit punk. The late 80s to late 90s is the greatest area of music to me. But thats just my taste.
