Rogue One was overall quite good. Boosted by a fantastic third act that thankfully pays off for the (at times) prolonged build up.

Finally, a genuine space battle. The last ten minutes in particular are magnificent.

One of the most iconic scenes in Star Wars history, it was ******* glorious.
What's the most iconic scene? (Star wars noob)

Will probably go and see Rogue Ine next week. If it's shit I'm officially throwing the Star Wars towel in for good.

If you had to pick one, what are people's favourite SW scene across the whole franchise? This one is mine

It's got a lot of build up in the first two acts which pay off in the end, felicity Jones isn't the "annoying lead" I think you're expecting her to be, it's more an ensemble piece, and the end ties perfectly to ANH.

It will probably vary from person to person, but each of the originals would have some key standout moments (I'm ignoring the prequels as I do my best to pretend they don't exist).

For me they are; Luke staring at the twin suns in Episode 4 (backed by the music); Vader's first appearance in Episode 5 in his 'super' star destroyer (again the music is epic, first introduction of his now iconic theme); and then Luke cremating Vader in Episode 6.

Am sure there's many more but my earlier point was that the ending of Rogue One deserves its place amongst the greatest Star Wars scenes. And arguably, the best.

The specific scene that I'm referring to is unmistakable (I won't spoil it but trust me you'll know when it happens).

in a new hope, when the empire are having a little board meeting and one of the uppity generals suggests to vader that the force is overrated /extinct.

Then vader chokes the shit out of him using the force whilst saying ' I find your lack of faith disturbing '. That stands out to me.

anyone seen the robot chicken or family guy versions of star wars?

v funny

I watched it last night so wasn't sure what was meant to be the exact part.

Thought it was solid without being spectacular but I'm not a Star Wars geek like the rest of you ;)

You didn't find the last three minutes absolutely spectacular??

Well that was the best part for sure but the rest was quite underwhelming.

Remember, I only watched the whole saga like earlier this year for the first time so I'm not as big a fan of it all as you lads.

Yeah that's fine, but underwhelming in what sense? Stripping back the Star Wars filter, it didn't engage you as a war/action film?

I'd still give it a 3/5. I just felt it was trying to shoehorn in a female protagonist for the sake of it, a funny robot (who was one of the best parts mind you) and a mentor as everyone seems to have in the series.

I also felt that despite the first two thirds plodding along that within that, it skipped over a few scenes to connect others together to allow for better fluidity.

Not to say I didn't enjoy it though. Just not as much as you guys did!

Who was the mentor? I didn't think there was one. Anyway each to their own. :)
