The basic plot is a multicultural group of Rebels try and take down a white male supremist Empire.

You do realise that whites can make up a multicultural group... right?

Lando, Mon Mothma, Leia, plus aliens not diverse enough for you in the original films? And guess what, Luke and Han were white.

You haven't even seen Rogue One so no idea what sort of authority you think you have to say what it is or isn't.

Star Wars has always been a story of a multicultural group of Rebels trying to take down a Fascist, supremist evil Empire that consists of white, British men. The whole point is to combine both the American War of Independence (with most of the good guys Americans), as well as World War II (with the bad guys simultaneously embodying the stiff upper lip British Empire and the Third Reich).

Really not sure why that makes some cynical about Rogue One involving a multicultural (YES it includes white good guys) cast of characters fighting an all white (well, except that Vader guy) evil Empire.

Sorry that's the best I can do with the material. I'm still trying to come to terms with SMs posts + I'm watching the deer hunter which is possibly my favourite film ever. There is probably some multicultural agenda that I've missed with that too I fear

Oh I see now. Are you seriously saying you never picked up on the imagery of the Empire = Nazis? Their soldiers are both called storm troopers haha.

Nazis yes, the original films had that element, although it was commonly referred to during the time as "cowboys and Indians" in space. The multiethnic pro feminist agenda did not exist during the original series, because basically that agenda did not exist at the time. It does now, and for that reason I will probably refrain from going to see the new film

There were good white guys too if I recall, so if there was a very liberal agenda then it wasn't noticed. The film last year was PC nonsense and according to TC this one is the same. Not my thing, let's leave it there ok

Alright, I get the idea that films do seem to have that 'tint' of either being PC, but two things. 1. It's all about execution, and 2. I... actually rather see a film/game/story of any sort where the female is the lead... and I don't mean 'oh noes, she's a girl living in a man's world sort of scthick.'

Execute your story elements well, and it brings out the best in your media.


I think I saw something about there being 'too much character development' and not enough Keri Russell doing the dirty... and I guess that's the good and bad about bringing up good developments and tying it up with some 'mature' topic, like sex, drugs, or violence... I get the idea for 'come for Keri Russell, stay for the story,' deal, but... you'll need to do very well to execute it very well, otherwise, it just comes off as very one-note.
