I can't get into gridiron. Just a more tactical, stop-start version of rugby league. Baseball is terrific and basketball fun to watch, but yeah America's take on football just doesn't do it for me. I sometimes wonder whether international viewers watch it for the sake of its perceived cool, modern, *number* *number* hut hut viewpoint in sporting culture.

What I'm trying to get at is- do you guys like the sport itself? Or are you more influenced by its visual aspects/the idea of its fashionable status in our sport-attentive society?

the athleticism, skill level and tactical side of the game. NFL really is a sport where you have to know what everyone on the field is trying to do to get maximum enjoyment out of the game.

Most people can't throw an football more than 20 metres with a perfect spiral. Imagine trying to throw it 50m with no margin for error with a 200 kg bloke seconds away from breaking your ribs.

I really enjoy the tactical side of sport so NFL is great for me. The stop start nature of the game supports that. Like watching Warney spend half an hour setting up a batsman for the flipper.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Jod. You've likely seen me post on here some of my own (mostly anxiety related) - if you ever want to talk, feel free to let me know.

Thankfully I'm in a much better place at the moment so the best point I can make is that it does get better. I've personally started living by a motto that helps me get through my challenges - things are never as good or as bad as they seem. I focus more on the 'bad' side of that and it helps to relax me. I think sometimes we get too caught up in the moment without seeing the big picture.

Enough waffling by me but keep your chin up.

Speaking of Gridiron, if there is one thing that I could never really get or understand, it's the whole college sports scene. I mean, yes, college sports, but over there, it's WOAH! College sports! 100k+ attendances, making all the news, even playing their games there.

I suppose I get that its trying to embody something that isn't really seen in US sports by having a 'club' feel (so the players seem like they belong to the club, and aren't going to move at the next available opportunity like in the pro leagues), but the fact that we're dealing with what is essentially U21s and that the Unis aren't really representative of local boundaries (basically, it's like tradition to move interstate at least once over there. All the Yanks I know have done that), and well... I'm not really getting the reason for 100k turn up for it, especially with the University of Michigan.

Does any one here follow College Sports?

I think College sport is so huge because these are future NFL/NBA etc players that are on show and not just players who won't "make it". Potential number 1 or lottery draft picks so it is exciting. Sport as a whole is massive and that includes the high school and college systems

Doesn't really explain it when the same can be said of u23s in England or u18 afl.

******* hell, add the word wedding to anything and prices increase 1000%. So expensive!

It's ****ed mate. I know there's some ways to negotiate things down though.

SM was talking about it a few months ago, might be worth checking with him to see if there's any cheaper options

Got the rest of the week off work, so we're going to check out a potential venue tomorrow.

We've got numbers down to about 105ish.

Haha have fun mate.
Contemplating taking the ring back :tearsofjoy:

Turn up in arsenal full kit and save on the suit.
Still shake my head someone did that, how'd the bride agree to that.
