Would the same have been said about Bean in GOT though?
I don't think so (although that's difficult to say in hindsight).

GOT had several different families it was showing. I think only focusing on one you need that kind of character to stick around.

Oh cool literally what I was just saying about potential spoilers.

What spoiler?

There's no book other than the general history of Westeros regarding this.

Did you watch the trailers and the HBO pre-release explanation content surrounding the release?

It's in there, the show is literally about the Targaryen Civil War of which Daemon is the central figure.

It's not a spoiler if HBO have released preparation content for this series, in addition, the basic outline of this story was explained several times in the GOT TV series itself.

If they do Roberts Rebellion as a prequel it would be akin to talking about killing off Rhaegar early in the show.

Oh for sure (remembering we've seen one ep so who know what characters will come in next ep. GOT Ep 1 was basically just Starks) but in terms of recognised actors, Bean carried that first season.

No I didn't look at any of that stuff because I didn't want to be spoiled.

Sure did. I thought it was really good.

Was a bit confused with the various characters early on but I'm sure I'll wrap my head around them in the coming episodes.

Me too. I was thinking back to how it took me a few episodes to get used to it in GoT but at least this time we're already familiar with a lot of the family names, so it should be easier.

I hope they kill him off at some point though. Gives me Sean Bean in S1 GOT vibes. The big star everyone tunes in for. Wouldn't want him having plot armour as a result as it'd lower the tension.

I actually hadn't seen him in much before so I've been pleasantly surprised.

First few seasons of the Crown is my only real exposure to him so far.

I wouldn't categorise him with Sean Bean who had been in the Lord of the Rings, James Bond, Ronin, Troy etc before going to TV.

Matt Smith was the face of Doctor Who for 4-5 years, was the villain in one of the Terminator movies, was in Morbius, as you say was one of the key characters in the Crown for two seasons. I'd say he's reasonably well known amongst people who would be tuning into this. He's certainly the biggest name on the show (which was the comparison I was making to Bean).

You are probably right when you consider recency bias, especially with the popularity of the Crown, but I dunno if he "certainly" is, as he's more of a TV Actor to this point. Alot of people haven't had exposure to him, I think the average older person would recognise Rhys Ifans as a bit of a that guy before Matt Smith.

Rhys Ifans has had a 2 decade career in movies and was the main supporting actor in the largest grossing UK film of all time at the time in Notting Hill.

He's had second billing on movies like the first Spiderman reboot, the Kings Man, Little Nicky, The Replacements etc.

He's had second billing on 3 x $100m+ movies.

McTavish is pretty big for a minor role, Outlander was probably as big as Doctor Who and the Crown.

Paddy Considine was brilliant in a main role in Pride.

I think they've done pretty well keeping to the same playbook of GOT casting mostly emerging actors yet to breakout.

No doubt about it, Matt Smith and others will be some of the biggest names on the planet after it. But GOT has done a lot of actors like Kit Harrington, Richard Madden, Jason Momoa, Lena Heady, Pedro Pascal etc.

Not particularly interested in getting into a back and forth on this but just have a Google of fans' reactions to the show and I think you'll find Matt Smith is the most talked about element, and not just because of the character he's playing.

If you're going to suggest Bean wasn't the headline actor of GOT Season 1 then fair enough you do you. And if you think Matt Smith will be 'made' by this show I just have to laugh.

Have you watched The Rehearsal, bok_party? So good.
Haha yeah mate - it’s incredible. It’s not a show for everyone though. A lot of people don’t really understand the intelligence behind Fielder’s stuff so they don’t appreciate the nuances.

Not directed at me but Rehearsal is absolutely fantastic. Knew I'd like it because of Nathan for You.

Anyone with HBO because of the new Game of Thrones should check it out.

Bojan KantKick Fernando sending the gooner twat to the burns unit.

This is literally the worst insult in history haha.

"The guy only knows how to drive fast and win"

He's become such a miserable old campaigner as he's got older. Truthfully he's done **** all in forever.
