Having a unique thread for the 4 days of the year most care about it is absolutely silly.

Why wouldn’t Golf fans care outside of those 4 days? Surely there are plenty other major tournaments you would want to discuss?

The Masters is really the big tournament on the calendar. The other majors aren't as highly watched.

There are other tournaments (and majors) throughout the year but how often have you seen them talked about in here?

Ground zero for this thread dying off down the years was that people stopped scrolling past discussions that didn't interest them. So then we ended up with an AFL thread, supercoach thread, cricket thread, USA sports thread.

Which didn't leave a hell of a lot to discuss and drastically reduced the purpose of this thread over the years. IMO

There seems to be enough interest for golf to have its own thread - same as USA sports. Then the rest of us wouldn't have to scroll past discussions that don't interest us. It's not the same as talking about passports, EVs and insurance.

Just quietly, I'd quite enjoy being paid squillions and then being told I had to take a year off before rejoining.

I'm not sure that's the punishment the PGA thinks it is.

Players re-joining doesn't bother me. Koepka has already paid a price for re-joining. The arseh*le has been forced to take a year on the European Tour.

Its estimated to cost returning pro's upwards of 50m.
Koepka is a little luckier than a lot of the others who could be forced to return. He's at least got a guaranteed card thru to 2028 as the 2023 PGA champion, others won't be so lucky.

Saudis are bored with golf and it's not helping with sports washing efforts. Therefore they've decided to pull the pin and it's unsustainable without oil money subsidising it.

Imagine what happens to the Saudi Pro League when this happens. Players on 500k / week playing in front of sub 10k crowds.

This is the fate that awaits those clubs dependent on oil money states.
