A very minor technicality - but Skinner actually said the 'Northern Lights' comment to his mother. When she complained that the house is on fire.

The dialogue with Supernintendo Chalmers was:

Superintendant Chalmers: Good Lord, what is happening in there?
Principal Skinner: The Aurora Borealis?
Superintendant Chalmers: The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?
Principal Skinner: Yes.
Superintendant Chalmers: May I see it?
Principal Skinner: No.
That's actually one of my favourite scenes in the show.

We're all different?
Sure, but it's a quality movie and you haven't explained what bored you.

It's like your comments about the revenant, you have to actually explain why you like or dislike something or you can't expect someone to understand what you mean.

First half of Wreck it Ralph was amazing, coz I got all those video games references even the subtle ones. 2nd half is alright

Best Pixar movies I've watched are still the Toy Story trilogy, Up and Inside Out

There's a difference between Pixar and Walts disney animation studio, the latter make far more classics than Pixar

Been a while since I watched it, but I just remember it didn't grab me much. Maybe I expected too much, I don't remember.

Yeah Up's another great shout.

I'm the opposite, I find more of Pixar's are hits than misses.

Pixar is still by far the best at animated movies, just have to compare it with other non-Disney studios to see how light and day it is. The last really good non-Disney one I've watched that's awesome is the Peanuts Movie but that's more to do with the whole comic nostalgia

But I feel the ones done by the Disney animation studio are the most classic Disney of them all and those really have a certain thing about them that sets them apart, just my preferences of course

So this has probably been mentioned on here before but who here considers themselves a musician? I was right into playing music as a kid and into my early 20's but then didn't do much for 7-8 years and have now just joined a band and realized again how much fun it is. I started out as a bass player and then went to guitar but back to bass in this current band. Perhaps we could form a Big Footy Association Football band ;)

I did Piano up to grade 7. Finished doing it when I left to go and study. Can do the keyboard too :)

To be honest, I think I do kinda get it. As much as it was advertised as a tribute to games, covering 3 gens over 30 years (1982, 1997, and 2012), we pretty much spend half the movie in Sugar Rush (heck, it was called Sugar Rush in Japan). Don't get me wrong, Sugar Rush is a good shout out to Mario Kart,Diddy Kong Racing and the like, and the place certainly had character, but we barely got to see the Call Of Duty world outside of the medal.

I guess it could rub people the wrong way when they expecting more 'video game' stuff, but to be honest, I'm glad that it focused on trying to make its own world and make a proper story out of it, all of which it excelled extremely well (the lore around the games itself was brilliantly done).

I think pretty much what Cooldude said, the 2nd half is quite different, and by that point, we're working on the story itself as opposed to referances. As noted, even if you remove the referances, I think it holds up very well.

Oh man, excellent choices there, though no mention of the Incredibles? That was mint. Think the Incredibles showed us all how to do a good Superhero movie in that awkward period before we finally kicked off.

Up is a bit of a weird one. I'm extremely glad they did a story where the main character is an actual pensioner for once, very good choice. It's a great movie, but to be honest, I think the only thing anyone ever talks about when it comes to up is the first 10. That first 10 is gold, by that point, it doesn't what else happens, you're leaving out of there satisfied. While I am very happy with what came after it, that 10 mins was always going to be hard to beat.

Inside Out... oh man, you looked at the trailers, and you thought this was going to suck, what with the stereotypes and all. But no, it blew everything apart, so much so that I would rate it as one of their stronger works. If there is a lesson that you shouldn't judge everything off a trailer... well, Inside Out will teach you that lesson. Also a very good emphasis on something that society seems to avoid, and actually give it more meaning and purpose. They've really done their work with Inside Out.

That said, I'd say Pixar is better. For just 20 years, they've produced so much gold. Disney has always been there, but there's an extremely good reason why they wanted to get their hands on Pixar, top drawer stuff from them (That said, while the Good Dinosaur looks fantastic, it's coming off a bit FF13 for me... it's got nothing else going for it outside of looks. Mind you, Zootopia looks very promising.)

Over The Hedge is a very good shout as well! Shrek is for exactly that reason suggested.

Sorry for the change of tone here. But was made aware this evening of this story out of India and have only just summoned the courage to read it.

There are times when I have no words to describe the human race. This is one of them.

Speechless.
