Seriously, this guy is an absolute indictment to the umpiring profession and the AFL as a whole. I think his umpiring performance today was one of the worst displays of officiating I have seen in my 31 years of following AFL. All this guy seems to do is run rings around a pack and occasionally think "Hmm, I better do something here" and blows his whistle and either calls for a ball up or pluck a free kick out of his rather large derriere. Some of the decisions he paid today were totally mind boggling. Case in point was when O'Loughlin held Scarlett high, Scarlett threw his head back due to the contact and the ball spilt loose and Scarlett was pinged for dropping the ball.

I know if I was as inept in my job as McLaren is in his, I'd have been sacked years ago. But it seems McLaren is part of the protected faeces....err, I mean species.

Chaimberlain is worse, even though he gave us a good run in Q2, almost taking McBurney's mantle of my most hated umpire.

Ray has little man's syndrom and did anyone see McLaren's ball up in the fourth...bloody terrible...the guy has no idea. The other ump was OK though.

Who gave the Swans that free and 50m penalty there in the last quarter on the wing? If the Swans had got up, I'd have found out where that idiot lived.

Both sides were dudded by over-umpiring, if they were serious though they could've paid 100 more free kicks when you look at the ones they gave.

+ i hate the 50m penalty, reduce it to 30m.....way too much of an advantage for the things it is paid for.

The umpires must've agreed with you. Our last 50m penalty was more like 30m.

Ray Chamberlain is incompetent and whistle-happy, but at least he spreads the misery evenly between both sides. McLaren, on the other hand, hates our guts and umpires like he really wants us to lose.

The third umpire (Meredith?) I didn't notice much, which means he must have done a good job.
