I'm big enough to admit it.

i was the biggest Tarkyn Lockyer bagger on these boards and possibly the world.

let me state my case first, T Lockyer was a great player before his 2 knee injuries, his kicking was awesome, since coming back i thought all was lost.

but so far this season he has been great, awesome when needed as a matter of fact.

dont be shy people, just admit you were wrong and say sorry.

i'll start it off

I'm Sorry Tarkyn Lockyer. may we never talk of trading you again!!!!

There is no doubt that Tarkyn is having a super season so far. He wont be mentioned come AA selectors meeting at mid-season but his contributions this season have been almost, if not, the equal of Andrew McLeod's.

I would think along with Scott Burns and Heath Shaw that Tarkyn would be right in the mix in the Copeland Trophy counting to this stage.

Just goes to show that a knee reconstruction sometimes takes some guys a little longer to get over than others. Especially those who aren't exceptionally speedy as it is.

Here's hoping he keeps it up.

I never bagged Tarks, i knew he would come back strong, gotta love his tackling, 1 percenters and his spot on kicking. :thumbsu:
And for Rhyce Shaw, i just thought he was an ok player a couple of years ago but now his really dominating across half back with brother Heath, really sends a shiver down my spine when he dashes from the back line and sets up an attack :p

No! He should be apologising to us! He is in career best form no doubt about it. He is playing with an intensity and passion that has been missing for most of his career. Now that I've seen what he is capable of, I'm furious about the insipid, timid dross he dished up to us for most of his career. It seems clear he has underperformed massively.

Sorry I don't buy this he was good before the knee theory. He was the subject of much heated debate about his softness at the contest long before the knee injury. Go have a look at his performances in the 2002 finals series - exactly the same isipid Tarkyn that he has always been. Maybe the he was good before he got clobbered by Molloy theory has more merit. But I'd argue that he has NEVER shown the ferocity in the contest that he has shown this year. Full marks for the dramatic improvement, but crikey did we really have to wait for his 9th year of AFL footy before we saw it?

I was gonna start this thread today. Beat me to it.

I'm glad he's playing in the midfield though. My criticism has been that he is a horrible and unaccountable backman.

Keep him on the ball!

Is this the nest of trust in the tree of love where we all hold hands and feel good? It is? Great, in that case well I don't owe Tarks an apology I sort of do owe Toovey one, I stated some doubts as to his ability and whilst he hasn't been starring in any of the matches, he has been far better than he looked in pre season and looks to have potential. So now I have said that can I howl at the moon naked with every one else here?

I can't remember if I've had a crack, but if i have my apologies go out. He has been super this season and is back to career best form.

Rhyce and Heater are performing excellently. They both have pace and skil and our team looks so much faster with them in it playing well. I'm sure Burnsy gained an extra spring in his step just watching the likes of the Shaws and Dick and Thomas etc dashing around the park. Bucks' hammy's must have been tightening up just watching them!

On tops of R Shaw and Tarks to whom I've already apologised, I may just have to add Toovey to the list.
Lockyer is having a very good year. Better than I would have imagined. In current form he is valuable. He and O’Bree still need to be squeezed out by pace, class and hardness for us to win a flag IMO and I’ll still say that if Lockyer wins the Copeland.

As for Rhyce, I’ve always said his pace gives him value to us. If we got a couple of gun mids though his error rate would call his place into question. I love his Collingwood heart though so I wouldn’t flick him off the list.

Toovey reminds me of McGough. Looks a bit like a taller version and kicks a bit like him. Has a bit more pace though. I am concerned at the number of poor kicks and ultimately some have to make way or we will always be our own opposition.

Shocking post, only a fool would contend blokes arent giving their best out their, tarks is one of the hardest workers and most dedicated on the list.

The football department takes accountability for developing players and decisions on recruiting and delistment.

Players are accountable to the football department not the members. If you have an issue with the football department and the failure to delist players bring it up with the board or at the AGM.

I don't think I ever stuck the boots in generally, although I am pretty sure that I was in favour of usuing him in a trade back to WA pre-knee op to lure one of their good players.

His last year was underrated by most, although he was a bit weak in some instances. Surely that had much to do with lack of conditioning.

Him & O'Bree were untradable at the end of last year (relative to return), but were also undelistable. They are both more than paying their way at the minute.

I just never thought he could get back to his form pre-knee injuries since alot of his game was based on a little burst of speed and he didn't really add any strengths to our team apart from precise kicking (and even then he used to be one of the biggest offenders in short crappy sideways movement). But he has improved his hardness at the ball, even his speed looks to have lifted a notch and he is having far greater impact.
