Gill cracks me up...

How's that work by Gill when he was all alone running onto the ball in F50? Nice kick GILLY!

Well done Crows :thumbsu:

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Give the guy a break. He has been brilliant for the Crows in his 1st 2 games of his career. Well done Gill

:D Haha

He makes Perrie look like Wayne Carey. Unless he improves his kicking he'll end up with the Daniel Schells of the football world.

Re: Gill cracks me up...

He is a loose cannon of the highest order. Perhaps even more of a loose cannon than the Birdman...which is some competition.

I like him, take the good with the bad. In the last qtr he took a big mark in the square to get us going, then somehow conspired to screw up that opportunity in the F50. That didn't dent his confidence though as on the wing he turned on his left foot and delivered a nice pass.

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Well he certainly makes the game interesting!:thumbsu::D

I love how we've been crying out for a forward who can consistantly take big contested pack marks inside 50 and he turns out to be a total nutjob:D

Whatever the result it's sure going to be fun watching hiM!

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Has shown some pretty positive signs. But it's all good when we win but I can see some fans getting pretty angry if or when we lose games from his wild kicking.

That "fun" will certainly turn into "frustration" after the novelty wears off :)

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Is he the next Perrie? "Oh, he tries hard, and gives a great contest, but the disposal is shithouse. Thats ok though, cause, you know, he gives a contest"

Perrie is on the up(taken his time though) and I'd love this to be bumped and proven wrong. If he can put the ball between the two big sticks, we're onto something.

Re: Gill cracks me up...

I'm and old West Torrens supporter and there was a player in the mid-late '70s named Brenton Miller with "shotgun" was his nickname - Gill reminds me of him. Can take a mark but kicking - all my god! Certainly makes an interesting forward line with Gill, Perrie and Burton.

I can remember Graham Howell, Peter Gilbert and Gordon Wright - guess that me makes older!!!!

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Maccas_no1 always used to say that Burton remined him of a wild donkey. ;) :D

I wonder what maccas is reminded of by Gill. :p

Apart from his kicking he's bloody good value for money IMO. :thumbsu:

Re: Gill cracks me up...

I like Gill. He plays with such determination and he's speedy, always tries to lay a tackle and can take a good grab :thumbsu:

Re: Gill cracks me up...

I'm proud of the win, but Nick Gill's foot skills are not adequate for AFL football. He is 24. He should have fixed them by now (perhaps he just can't) yes he tries but his kicking is inadequate, and he would be in my players to cut at years end. Might seem harsh, but I'd say he is the least skilled by foot player the Crows have ever had (just behind Aaron Keating)

Re: Gill cracks me up...

I thought he was brilliant tonight. He works harder than anyone else on the ground and the conditions were woeful (not good conditions for key forwards). Great job by Gilly and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for having a crack at him with tonight's fantastic game.

People are entitled to criticize his kicking, which is way below AFL standard, but not his effort.

He gives 100% and is so unpredictable that he does add something to the forward line. His last quarter when the game was on the line was excellent IMO.

I enjoy watching him play - other than when he has a shot at goal.

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Spot on macca - that pack mark in the last quarter when I thought it was Huddo's I was "oh dear here comes another point" and then the ump gave it to Gill. Thought was hmm still a point coming up - very happy to be proven wrong and I loved how pretty much all the guys in the area came over to him. :D

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Wtf? He kicked 1.1!!! What the hell is wrong with that? His first shot hit the post, sorta drifted late but was close; he slotted his next shot. Seriously wtf?? His kicking for mine was improved on last week, and as long as he improves I'm happy especially when you throw in the HUGE positives he has to his game.

There is not much wrong with his field kicking either.
You are unbelievable sometimes.

If you didn’t hear that he had been having work done to his kicking, would you be saying he had improved on last week? Of course not! His kicking was terrible tonight and for you to say otherwise is just ridiculous. He missed his first shot from 30 out, which you should convert. And then in the last term he just scraped it home from near the goal square.

Last week you blamed it on the nerves, this week the weather. What next week? The expected wind?

I've got nothing against Gill (I gave him 3 votes last week in BTM), but you have to be honest here. His kicking was, and is, rubbish.

Re: If you are bagging Gill, go the hell home

Can't believe people are knocking his game tonight.
Really? It’s that hard to believe?

He runs all over the ground and in wet conditions turned the game in that last term.
Calm down.

His tackling intensity was brilliant....just a very good game.
If you say so.

And for those knocking his kicking, he had what, two shots on goal? One barely missed and the other sailed through.
Sailed through? I suggest you go in that time machine of yours and watch it again. :thumbsu:

A good return in conditions that our entire side struggled to convert in.
1.1? OK.

Seriously if you are knocking Gill's game tonight you should be ashamed of yourself.
OK.

Take him out of that game and we would have lost.
This is where you really lost control. :o

What? You disagree?
Yes.

Get a ****ing time machine and go watch the game at the ground - he made a ****ing huge difference and deserves to stay on our list.
So this is merely a campaign to keep him on? I see…

Kicking marginally improved tonight, had a couple of clangers but again,
Didn’t improve much to me.

the conditions didn't do him any favours.
I see.

Re: Gill cracks me up...

Wrong. Kicked 1.1 and that is so nice. :thumbsu:

He missed one from 30m out directly in front and very nearly missed one from the point of the square again.

I love his workrate and pressure, but his kicking is terrible. No amount of "Get on the Gill Train" posts will change that.
