It's tough because the standard is so poor. Particularly when we all follow teams full of world class players in the UK. The drop off is too significant.

It really isnt. Its a good standard but to expect PL standard is just pure eurosnobbery.

Yeah, the gulf is massive. Like no players playing in the A League could play in a top league in Europe. And if they can they quickly leave to do so which weakens the league.

Not true.

Yeah it's just a hypothetical mate. Like who would I rather win the league/premiership, Liverpool or West Coast. It's just a question to find out where when push comes to shove, his loyalties lie.

But my point is why does it matter? Would I rather Hull win or Adelaide? Obviously Hull, does that mean I don't care about Adelaide/don't go to games when I can and enjoy them? No..

Like you just said, Liverpool or WCE? You'll obviously back one over the other but does it really matter when they have no relation to each other?

It's like asking would I like to see a cool new Star Wars movie or an album from my favourite artist. The two have nothing to do with each other.

You'd be fun at parties.

I was into the A-League from about 2009-2012 going to every Melbourne Victory home game with a good mate of mine, was great fun, but he moved interstate early 2013 so I stopped going and my interest in the A-League fell away.

Like Art Vandelay_ I’m waiting for a Geelong team.

So they can make the finals and disappoint every year for 8 years straight? ;)

Wonder if Gero has been to the WUN games in Geelong for the same reason then.
Been to one so far.

For the same reason I have declined Zidane98 invite at Victory games, a good portion of a-league games we have been scheduled in years gone have been on Saturday and as The Half Back will attest. Good luck getting there on time after cricket.

Looking at upcoming WU fixtures. Next Monday but will be out of town playing golf on my public holiday.
Two postponed fixtures, presumably NSW covid related and then Saturday during cricket Jan 23. Then the Cats take back the venue for the rest of the season.

the a league itself makes it hard for people to come into and get on board. the competition continues to let down itself and the fans. it's hard to take seriously at times when there's no transfers between clubs and players are begging to be released from contracts to move to another.

That and some players have played for nearly every club... Liam Reddy.

Also playoffs are straight bullshit. There are no playoffs in football. You play the league, you finish top, you're the champion. That's it!

If you love football like I do its pretty simple - you follow and support the sport at its highest level where you live.

I think it is ridiculous that any supposed football fan doesn't get behind their A League team because "its not as good as the EPL". Imagine all the league 1 and below teams in England had fans with that attitude.

I get some in here may only have a casual passing interest in the game and follow a PL team because it is trendy. More understandable those sorts of fans only get into the big ticket event and havr trouble engaging with the bread and butter stuff.

Those who live and breathe the game though should be getting right amongst the A League and supporting the game in Australia (or wherever they live). Anyone that doesnt is definitely a Eurosnob.
Kind of ironic calling others eurosnobs with such an arrogant post. If you want to follow local league fine, doesn’t make you any bigger fan of the game. Utter nonsense

Have you seen the Championship?

I follow United pretty closely as they are the local team, but I struggle to sit through any neutral games as the quality just isn't there, and if people don't have any connection to a team, then it's understandably difficult to get interested (more directed at AV, chef and Loons).
