It's a nice post. But he's been playing regularly for an established premier league team since he was a teenager. You must be fairly highly rated to be doing that, I'm not sure it's a Jamie Vardy level rags to riches story.

He's been in and out of the team and until this season I don't think many would have been confident with him leading the line for Everton. If he continues this form all season it's comparable to Kane's emergence when he had been similarly rubbished and written off.

Also pretty harsh snub on Fat Sam there by his old man.

Bullet points:

- 20 club PL democracy replaced with 9 club voting bloc based on league longevity. LFC, AFC, CFC, MUFC, MCFC, THFC, WHUFC, EFC and SFC.

- PL reduced to 18 teams.

- £250m package to the EFL to help clubs through covid. Then 10% of PL revenue to the EFL each year. £100m donation to the FA.

- No league cup. No Community shield.

- Only 6 of the 9 required to pass a vote. Abolition of the one club one vote principle.

- Voting 9 have the power to veto proposals and even stop rival club takeover bids.

in short. Here’s a big wad of cash, give us untold power to corrupt English football in exchange. Rubbish proposal, maybe reducing the league to 18 could see its proposers Liverpool and Manchester United being the one’s dumped from the league.

Greedy campaigners, and sadly most of us follow a club that’d agree to this bullshit.

This part can **** right off.

For no particular reason, it establishes power in clubs that have the current longest record in the Premier League - without them needing to have any success.

Why should lower mid-table teams like West Ham or Southampton be given greater rights than Leicester who have recently won the league and finished 5th last season? Or Wolves who finished 7th in each of the last two seasons.

One club one vote needs to stay.

Only part I like is increased funding to the efl which I've been calling for the last few months in particular.

9 club voting bloc can **** right off, that’s way too much power in too few foreign hands. Only need six votes! That’d be nuts

I’d increase the EFL funding as well, both Covid package and annual payment.

More details....

There would be two automatic promotion places for Championship clubs, but the third, fourth and fifth placed clubs would be in a play-off tournament with the 16th placed Premier League club.

The proposals also rewrite the Premier League’s 20-club democracy in favour of placing huge power in the hands of the nine clubs with the longest continual stay in the division. As things stand that is the big six, as well as Everton, Southampton and West Ham. Those nine clubs afforded “long-term shareholder status” would have unprecedented power, with the votes of just six of them required to make sweeping changes. These clubs would even be able to veto a new owner taking over a rival club.

**** right off you campaigners. I'd be ashamed to support any of these clubs with power hungry campaigners like that running them.

i get that the top clubs want to look after their interests and protect themselves, but they really are clueless when it comes to reading the room. same with ferran's b team comments. keep it to yourself, especially for the time being at least. or come up with proposals that dont make you look like absolute campaigners.

I still think making the league cup a pre-season tournament should be the way to go. Teams that get knocked out early can then make friendlies with other clubs to fill space to finish their pre-season preparation, and the league cup final at the end of pre-season would be when clubs players are normally just about fully match fit. Then there is also more space during the season for players to recover.

Except a lot of clubs would then lose flexibility about how they run their pre season. We used to go to Portugal for fitness training, why should we be forced to stay in England for a tournament?

Play the kids and lose the first game, then resume with pre-season as normal. Under my scenario it's a pre-season tournament, so it's not important.

What kids with what coaching staff? Most clubs would have kids involved with their senior side over pre-season to get an idea of who can take the step up.

I get the theory but it would never work in practice mate.

Ah just scrap it then.

Ah just scrap it then.

I'd rather it continue as a Cup that excluded European teams, with the winner getting a place in the Europa League. Loses a touch of integrity, but a lot of clubs play the kids anyway. Scrap the EFL Trophy and make this the focus for clubs.

Good idea, put me down for one of these.

No reason why it shouldn't continue in its present form.

If that's inconvenient for some clubs, let them withdraw or play kids or whatever.

Nothing wrong with the League cup imo.

The competition was originally inteded to be a cup comp for the teams who went out in the early rounds of the FA Cup. There simply isnt enough space in the football calendar to accommodate it, hence the reason why La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga etc only have one cup comp.

Even without coronavirus the competition was on borrowed time.

This is what I'd like to see. Teams may take it more seriously as there is a more realistic chance they could win it, and they FA Cup may benefit in greater relevancy as a best of the best knockout competition.

Hopefully my mob vote against this

What a sad state Manchester United has fallen to, have to resort to a grubby tactic like this to try and feel relevant again after a decade of being in the big club of Euro Wilderness.

Tbf, the instigator is Liverpool. United support it, but it is the brainchild of Liverpool Football Club.
