Tbf, the instigator is Liverpool. United support it, but it is the brainchild of Liverpool Football Club.

Oh right.

Their owners are Yanks who own the Boston Red Sox as well.. I support the Bo-Sox, but they are really destroying the Fabric of English Football if this goes ahead.

No Chance at all for a Leicester style FAIRYTALE if this proposal goes ahead.

Some reform is needed but the one vote per club system needs to stay.

The idea of premier league revenue going towards stadium improvements for all professional clubs across 4 divisions is very good.

25% revenue going to EFL clubs - very good

18 team Premier League - this needs to happen even if it means losing 80 games a season on TV. The fixture calendar is too crowded. This combined with the scrapping of the league cup (or it becoimiong an U21 tournament) would ensure the long term welfare of footballers.

100m payment to FA for costs in order to support the women's game and grassroots football - very good.

Cannot accept the removal of the current one club per vote system though and I don't see other clubs supporting it either which means this will never get across the line if it isn't changed.

I also love the idea of club accounts being made public.

Not sure about the loan system being changed. Chelsea must be excited about the proposal of 4 players loaned to one club being allowed and up to 15 players overall being loaned!!

Bullet points:

- 20 club PL democracy replaced with 9 club voting bloc based on league longevity. LFC, AFC, CFC, MUFC, MCFC, THFC, WHUFC, EFC and SFC.

- PL reduced to 18 teams.

- £250m package to the EFL to help clubs through covid. Then 10% of PL revenue to the EFL each year. £100m donation to the FA.

- No league cup. No Community shield.

- Only 6 of the 9 required to pass a vote. Abolition of the one club one vote principle.

- Voting 9 have the power to veto proposals and even stop rival club takeover bids.

in short. Here’s a big wad of cash, give us untold power to corrupt English football in exchange. Rubbish proposal, maybe reducing the league to 18 could see its proposers Liverpool and Manchester United being the one’s dumped from the league.

Greedy campaigners, and sadly most of us follow a club that’d agree to this bullshit.

Longevity in the PL is a stupid pre-requisite.

Where's Aston Villa with 25 seasons in the top flight? They have an extra 4 years in the PL over Southampton and are in every sense of the word a bigger club.

Where's Newcastle? They've spent 25 seasons in the PL vs Man City's 23 or West Ham's 24.

Southampton have never finished higher than 6th in the PL, West Ham have never finished higher than 5th.

Aston Villa and Newcastle have both finished s high as 2nd in the PL era which is better than Everton ever has....

Sounds like an American takeover (Fenway and the Glazers). As others have said all for 25% for EFL (even more) but the voting bloc is craziness. The £100m one off looks like a buy off.

The fine print is stupid.

Southampton having any sort of voting rights over a club like Leicester atm is ridiculous.

What if Southampton or West Ham get relegated? Do they lose their voting rights?

You would have a situation of an EFL club having voting rights over a top 4 contending EPL side.

Both American owned clubs. They would love to set up the Premier League as a franchise system. Gilbert and Sullivan at the Hammers are also keen - trying to rebrand the club as 'London'. BTW one of the so called Big 6, Man U is currently 16th in the league with -6 goal difference.

Apparently, the plan is supported by the EFL chairman Rick Parry who has held talks with Liverpool and Man U's owners. Must be backhanders going on. The bloke should be sacked immediately.

Edit : former Liverpool chief executive, Rick Parry.

It could be that the end game is to not have any relegation from the Premier League.

Probably doesn’t matter because they will only need 6 of 9 votes to get anything through, so top 6 clubs will vote as a bloc and usually together I’d imagine.

Nothing like a bit of casual xenophobia. Give me a foreign born owner with the best interests of the club at heart any day over good old Brits like Ashley, Gold, Sullivan etc.

Its good that the sportswashing saudis were stopped though despite the enormous money they would have brought in. Gotta draw a line somewhere.

We already know that voting bloc stands for things like increased percentage of TV money for the "bigger"clubs.

Anyone outside the bloc that think these plans will benefit them is crazy.

Pretty gross plan. Not a massive fan, I don't mind the 3rd relegation spot being a play off though, would make the relegation scrap more interesting from a neutral point of view.

This whole council of 9 clubs controlling the PL itself just seems so self serving and wrong, I hate the idea. Them voting on takeovers of other football clubs seems absolutely ridiculous and anti competition.

It is pretty awful they are using the financial struggles of the lower clubs to broker a better deal for themselves.

Smell the fear tbh.

Leicester and Wolves already shaking up the status quo.

Everton coming good.

Villa with the financial backing to now make an impact.

PL TV revenue means even smaller clubs with a sustained run in the PL can recruit players to make life hard.

The cushy "big 6" (PMSL), half of which can't fill their stadiums or haven't won anything in donkey's years, whose top 6 positions suddenly aren't cushy any more are starting to feel uneasy.

The only justice would be Man Utd getting relegated after this has come out.

Here's a better idea:

Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd can **** off to the "euro super league"

Replace them with Celtic and Rangers.

The PL still continues to rate better than the Champions League Mk2.

Keep those Scottish farmers where they belong. In their pissant league

There's clearly a couple of clubs here that don't want to be here unless the comp is on their terms.

They can **** off tbh.

Rangers and Celtic would be as big as anyone with some PL money in their squads. Would easily replace the few that seem to desire a super league so much...

Rangers and Celtic would barely be PL standard, at best.

That some clubs through this Bs idea, and the Euro super league want things to suit themselves and screw the rest doesn’t legitimise these farmers joining the PL

Correct, but stick 110m in their bank account year-on-year and it would change fairly rapidly.

Not a bad start for the 20 year old.

Well they've ****ed English football so I'm fine with thinking they have only been good for a few teams and not the health of the nation wide leagues.
