Considering Sunderland and other clubs were looking at bringing ALF across, I concur. The notion that League Two would dominate the A-League is bordering on stupidity.

Lower A-League players have walked into lower League One sides (Matt Millar for example).

I have no interest in the A League, ive tried but it does nothing for me.

Fair enough. But for my experience I have made several lifelong friends and had some very valuable memories (such as watching David Villa live) supporting Melbourne Heart/City from day 1.

I never once supported Victory, cause their supporters and culture leave something to be desired, but have not regretted one second being a Heart/Citizen.

If you went to a few games for one club and build up friendships there (like I did with Yarraside at Heart), you may change your mind.

Always welcome to have you onboard at City mate, we are somewhat of a community club like your Western Bulldogs 👍👍👍

Do you feel a pull towards ManC?

Not in the slightest, except when depriving Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham in titles. Still remember watching that Aguero goal against QPR in my local Pub, probably now the most famous and memorable moment in Premier League History.

Imagine that, winning the league with no time practically left on the clock, and needing 2 goals in 5 or so minutes.

Won my mate a multi he had on all ten PL games too. Was an awesome night.

Remember it like it was yesterday. I had written a pretty long post ready to go on a forum, key events of the season and all. You’ve never seen a post get erased from history as quickly as that night.

In terms of shit results, that league title loss ranks up there with any CL final loss and Australia vs Iran in 1997. I mean holy shit, I thought all City were going to hang on us that season was the 6-1 result, they’ve all but forgotten about that match now.

Funnily enough I knew deep down City were going to pull it out of their ass and win it, you could see it all unfolding. We saddled up and won it the next season anyway thanks to superb seasons from RVP & Carrick.

Made me so happy, City denying United like that so late on means we can draw level with United this season if we retain. Then with 20 each and our 6 to 3 European Cups. Back on our perch.

The day when United signed RVP was amazing. Pretty much happened out of the blue with little to no coverage of it possibly happening. It was like one day he played for Arsenal and the next time you see or hear about him he was holding up a United top at the unveiling.

Tbh with you, if this was a few years ago I would stress about out rivals winning titles and be really upset about it. But with age, I find myself no longer worrying about that sort of stuff. I would rather United win another title even if Liverpool won the next one and the one after.

Yeah as I've gotten older, I've worried about it less and less but having said that it will be nice to go back on top. Gotta win the league first though which is no given.

Lol let's be real mate, Liverpool doing well is your entire life.

Well going from my lifetime, Liverpool still well and truly behind United 😁.

League Two teams would dominate the A-League IMO.

Not a chance, you need to watch more A League if you believe that. Sides that recruit league 2 players in the A League have generally struggled big time.

It is not even Championship standard though. It would sit around the League 1 maybe even League 2 level.

The fact that Le Fondre could dominate is an indictment on the A League

That sounds about right. In his prime Le Fondre was a Championship player but at 34 he probably would have dropped to League 1. Scott McDonald is a similar story except he's 37 now. Steven Taylor was playing for League 1 Peterborough before he signed for Wellington. Jamie Young played mostly League 2 before doing well in goals for Brisbane.

Jamie Young was a reserve keeper when he joined Brisbane Roar. Scott McDonald has struggled massively since returning to Australia. Le Fondre was a Premier League player in his prime (12 goals in 34 matches) as was Steven Taylor. Way too good for League 2.

Now you have guys like Lopez joining the A League from straight La Liga. No chance they would play in League 2.

A Leagues around League 1 standard with the best teams as good as lower championship teams. Laughable to suggest it is League 2 level.
