Shareholders aren't necessarily rich people you know

I think the betting companies' bottom line will be just fine. Shareholders will make plenty of money.

As mentioned previously, SkyBet leaks false stories through Sky News to entice punters, which I see as much worse - arguably fradulent.

If someone from within Sky leaks communication to that effect they will get done severely.

I wonder who leaked the Trippier stuff.

What do you mean?

I'm talking about the transfer speculation articles Sky publishes which very rarely have basis in fact.

E.g. bids for Zaha which the Palace owner rubbished.

It was Rhyan Brewester bid that the Palace owner rubbished. But they are idle speculation, anyone can post something on their twitter feed or media site. They can easily be refuted.

What I mean is if Sky sports executives are getting together and having meetings about making income from putting out deliberately false rumors. That would be the equivalent of a player saying go put a bet on me joining another club, it's a done deal. If internal correspondence was leaked to that effect Sky would be done severely for it.

Betting companies are sh*t too but as Bradesmaen said, two wrongs dont make a right.

What did he actually do wrong apart from discussing his career move with friends? Did he encourage his friends to put a bet on?

From his phone

It was discovered that in mid-July, 2019, Trippier’s friend Oliver Hawley placed 10 separate bets, ranging from £20 to £65, on the full-back joining Atletico.

After placing one bet, Hawley sent Trippier a message reading: “6/1 Athletico (sic) Madrid”, to which Trippier responded with three laughing emoji

On July 12 Trippier texted Hawley: “It’s happening”, shortly before Hawley placed two more bets on the move to the Spanish side.

On July 14 another friend, Matthew Brady, met Trippier at a wildlife park and later texted to ask: “Shall I lump on you going there?”. Trippier later said: “Lump on if you want mate.”

He can't have any complaints IMO.

Did you not read the group chat messages. He pretty much did encourage yeah...

Pretty much did, or did? Bit of a distinction.

He did. I mean read the texts.

Didn't he say something like, "Yeah lump on if you want", which is basically the same as saying "Sure mate do what you want". That's not really the same thing.

In one message, in the view of the FA, Trippier encouraged a friend Matthew Brady to gamble on his move but it conceded he could not have been said to have “instructed, permitted, caused or enabled MB to bet”, leading to the first part of the fourth charge to be dropped. In a subsequent message, Brady told Trippier he had been unable to put much money on.

The betting companies aren’t doing this to help themselves or not lose money, these amounts are absolutely meaningless to them. The W-D-W market on the lowest turnover premier league match this season will hold significantly more money than any transfer market they have will.

The FA/local authorities request this info from them for integrity purposes. They have a pretty clear zero tolerance when it comes to these things. I’m sure this example was pretty innocent from Trippier, but these type of markets are exactly what those involved in spot/match fixing use to get control of players.

Don't bother with the king of objections. Next he'll object at the colour of Liverpool being a pantone shade different to pure red.

I literally quoted the findings of the case but ok.

Bit weird of you to bring up Liverpool as if you're not the most cringey poster when it comes to them.

What we do know by know is how out of touch Jod is.
Discussing his life with mates. Put him in the stockade.

Surreptitiously telling mates to "put a bet on if you want" while telling them he's going to Atleti... yeah that's just discussing normal life.
