There's a lot that the FA don't have any issue with that isn't necessaruly ethical or legal.

I'd say being able to gamble on friendlies and semi-professional sport isn't necessarily ethical either but betting companies are happy to take people's money for those.

There's a lot I'd be concerned with before I worry about a betting company's bottom line when they're happy to take money on end of season matches that notoriously are not played at the most competitive spirit.

What about people that bet on the result of a game and lose because the goalkeeper couldn't be arsed trying to save a penalty?

But that goal had nothing to do with the result?

Diddums. I nearly lost a leg on my multi yesterday as Geelong put the cue in the rack not trying to get injured.

I knew what I was getting into when I hit bet.

People bet on NBA games where teams spend the last 20 seconds holding the ball draining the clock. It's shit but hey that's gambling. If people are seriously crying about a consolation goal they need to sort themselves out.

It'd be like people being outraged that Bayern were looking to set up Lewandowski at every opportunity because he was trying to break the record. Alternatively, like a few of my mates did, they bet on Lewa any time once his odds hit $2 because he was a fantastic chance to score.

Eh?

They lost 3-1. The 1 had no impact on people betting on the result.
Unless they bet on a 2-1 result, or +/- etc etc.

Crying?

You're getting incredibly specific here. You initially suggested that the issue would be people betting on the result of the game, of which the penalty had no impact.

Now suggesting people betting on a specific score. Wonder if betting companies investigated after Sunderland scored off a beach ball?

It's gambling. Random things happen that can cost you a bet. Teams can put the cue in the rack and park the bus at a particular arbitrary point. How is that any less 'spot fixing' than letting someone take a penalty? Teams can instruct players to get carded to waste time, and in fact the total number of cards is a key market people can bet on, how is that any less 'spot fixing' than conceding a soft penalty?

It’s only spot fixing if you can prove the players on either team pre-determined that he would score a penalty/goal and profited from it or enabled others to profit. I’m pretty confident that isn’t what happened.

People have gone to prison in England for deliberately getting carded at certain points of a game.

In cricket, people have gone to prison for bowling no balls at certain points in an over.

The intentions of the keeper might have been sound, but for me it shouldn't be allowed.

Presumably they went to prison for accepting money for doing so? Little bit different mate.

It shows that spot fixing is against the law. Not suggesting the keeper should go to jail, but I think a suspension is justified.

Much like if Trippier profited from his transfer at the bookies it would have extremely serious. He didn't, but he still broke the rules and was punished accordingly.

Is this spot fixing?

I don't think Trippier should have been in trouble for what he did either so not going to argue with you on that one.

Gambling companies are more than happy when rules are twisted and bent for them to profit but will cry foul the second anything goes against them, so there's zero sympathy for me when these things happen in end of season games.

You can bet on friendly matches FFS. Are gambling companies going to cry foul if a side makes 10 substitutions at half time and lets a keeper take penalties when you can bet on a player to score at any time? This is way down on the scale of grotesque incursions of gambling into sport.

Yeah, when I was in UK back in 2006 I was able to bet on Victorian State League soccer at the bookies. It was quite popular in summer when not much football is played elsewhere.

I was able to bet on the amateur team I was playing for at the time.

The rabbit holes Jod’s stupidity leads you down.
Watch out for the drive by. You and SM do this so much with me. The immaturity and insecurity from you guys is so funny.

Oh and guess who liked your post. Haha, so predictable.

For the record, I stick by what I said, that was shit and against the integrity of the game.

Lille up 1-0

I am livescoring it. Not on Bein Sport at all it seems. Neymar missed a penalty by trying to pass the ball into the net and missed wide, I turn over to Milan and Kessie scores his penalty in the same way that Neymar missed his lol.

It's on BT Sport for me, as is PSG.

Juventus lead at halftime 3-0. They are in 4th right now on account of Milan leading Atalanta 1-0 (Atalanta be in Europe 3rd regardless of what they do) and Napoli being 0-0 at halftime. Napoli need to get a move on. What a second half we have here.
