This is the policing Sam Kerr grew up with:

"Casey revealed that one Muslim officer had bacon stuffed in his boots, a Sikh officer had his beard cut, minority ethnic officers were much more likely to be disciplined or leave, and Britain’s biggest force remains disproportionately white, in a capital that is increasingly diverse."

If anything "White bastard" is a weak descriptor of UK police.
This happened in Broome on Tuesday after a few kids were swimming in some idiots pool. Racism is alive well in Australia.

I don't get the sense that Kerr will apologize.

How would you get that sense? It would make sense for her to apologise and put it behind her. It's mental this has gotten to the point of a criminal trial. If every time someone said something similar to the case went to court the UK justice system would be bogged down for years. Clearly someone in the justice system has it in for Kerr. An everyday person wouldn't be sent to trial for a minor offense.

I think she'd be happier to discuss racism with the UK police (via the court) and bring it to a head (and eventually get a slap on the wrist) than to apologise.

Can you imagine the next time Met police are found to be racist, and they're still proceeding with this case?

Like the Nazis and the Ashkenazi

Or are you saying that wasn't racist because both groups were white?

Th point is they weren’t persecuted simply because they were white..it was because of their religion. Now if we class Jews as a race (as SM mentioned) then yes it’s racism.

Mad that the Brit legal system is willing to use taxpayer cash on a trial for something to minor, while back home it wouldn't even get you arrested in many instances.

Certainly heard worse at pubs on Friday nights.

There are other forums to be heard on such matters. A court case isn't the place to simply "have a discussion".

In this case, it need not tie up public resources on something that should've been settled with a summary offense, fine and apology.

Someone has it in Kerr to proceed this far.

How on earth would they stretch that one comment, four days?

I'm with a few others here. It's not overly offensive but I think there just needs to be a blanket rule that race is never used as part of an insult. It's completely unnecessary.

Obviously the connotation shouldn't be as offensive but you can't really have rules for one but not the other.

Yes I wondered similar. A 4 day trial scheduled suggests there’s so much to cover in the lead up to the alleged comment. Perhaps Kerr herself was racially profiled, who knows really. It’s all speculation and we’re just going off scraps of information here and there. Mediation/out of court attempts probably have been attempted and failed prior to reaching this point.

Yes I read about that last night, disgusting. Poor kids. Very troubling.

Yeah. That's kind of everyone's point.

Why would a racist institution want to bring up a person on charges of racism? When was the last time they charged one of their own despite endless cases of it?

What's the max sentence she might receive for this? A fine? Why is the Met and Crown prosecutor wasting everyone's time?

It's like a bank taking a customer to court for being money-hungry.

I'd say someone in the force has it out for Sam Kerr and/or tall poppy syndrome. But it never should have gotten this far, that's for sure, all things about the police force aside. In general though they can charge an individual for a racism offense if the believe one has occurred. Using the defence but the cops are racist too probably wouldn't work too well in court.

Here are the sentencing guidelines:

So a fine or a community order. (Category 3c) with reductions for good conduct and first offence.

This will be two years of a racist organisation waiting to try a minority for something their officers do systemically.

It's just a stupid idea every way you look at it.

Has to be tall poppy syndrome. It makes no sense otherwise. Maybe they just hate Chelsea and Australia. Because you couldn't with a straight face say that people being racist against white police is worth the court's time. My guess is that her and her legal team have already knocked back some form or mediation.

Forgive me if I'm being ignorant but how is this different to the situation Tex got in trouble for?

You're kidding, right? 😂

How is it different?

You're being wilfully ignorant if this is a genuine question. You think profiling and making derogatory comments highlighting a minority/oppressed people's race is the same as comments about white people who have suffered no indignities or disadvantages based on their race is pretty crazy.

Okay so Sam can make racially derogatory comments and that's okay?

I understand that one situation would have more weight than the other but in the end it's the same offense being committed?

What was racially derogatory about what she said? Including "white" in the comment is not racially derogatory in and of itself. It's no different than claiming society is run by old white men. You've asked a question in bad faith and are continuing in kind.

Maybe it's scheduled for a four day trial because she's hired big gun lawyers who might drag in a bunch of case law and precedent. Like I said, she will be pushing for a not guilty outcome because a fine still means she will have a criminal conviction that could impact her ability to travel internationally.

It will be interesting in the court case to see if the police officers knew or didn't know who she was. Not everyone in the UK follows football, even fewer women's football. Even if they knew who she was I don't see why they would have a grudge against her. Women's football isn't particularly partisan. Unless she went full Harry Maguire "Do you know who I am?"

Pretty simple. If you bring up anyone's race in any context. You are a dirtbag. There is no space for it, nor any space for apologists of same.
Thank you for coming in here and letting us know oh virtuous one. Is there any room up their?
