For a bloke that was super opposed to oil bloody money when competing against City he has sure changed his tune quickly

Pathetic.

The biggest tragedy is that he’s a football manager.

I don’t know what the point of speeding is, especially in these Supercars (I assume it was) that a regular person would struggle to handle at high speeds. It’s stupid and dangerous. :(

It was in his Porsche Cayenne GTS. The PL players like their high performance SUVs. He claimed he was rushing to take a friend to a railway station but 72 mp/h in a 30 zone is ridiculous. There would be pedestrians, cyclists, people backing out of their driveways etc. He was also charged with failing to identify the driver of the car. I wonder if he thought about asking a friend to take the rap but his lawyer advised him that it was a very bad idea.

As for Bradesmaen's point, there isn't a certain speed that equates to a custodial sentence. It has to be associated with another offence such as racing, running a red light or causing an accident, which would result in a charge of dangerous driving.

New law changes for next season inc VAR for corner kicks:

IMO the Wenger daylight offside rule is shit as it will simply result in deeper defensive lines as it will be much more difficult to push up catching strikers offside.

It will be trialled in Canada and looks like it will be implemented pending a successful trial.

I like the daylight rule, will be interesting to see how the daylight trial goes. Its anti football to rule out goals because of an offside toenail. Consistency will again be the big problem.

Cant be doing with more VAR involvement in the game while the current lot are involved.

5 seconds on throw ins and goal kicks too quick for me. But again, consistency. Refs will book players for taking too long on throwins, but let teams take ages to take a long attacking throw.

In theory yes. However I now see defensive lines dropping to accommodate this. Also negates offside traps somewhat.

I feel this will lead to more negative, defensive football. Hopefully not but we will see with the trials.

Possible, but dropping deeper isnt always the best thing for a defence. Definitely worth a trial. Might lead to nothing of course, but cant hurt to see.

Just hate this idea that millimetres in front of a defender is an attempt to gain an unfair advantage. Its not, particularly when technology still isnt good enough to show exactly where an attacker and a defender is when the ball is played.

Goals will always be ruled out by mm no matter which way you go. Goals have always been ruled out like this too.
True but if you have daylight and are still offside theres more an argument that you are gaining an unfair advantage than if your toenail is a mm ahead of a defenders eyebrow.

Id also like to see the measurement from your feet. Various parts of the body is too open to manipulation and subjectivity. And if you feet are behind a defender but youre leaning forward of him are you really getting an unfair advantage?

I am sure daylight will have a different definition to the adjudicators for each game too.

I really like forced time off for injuries. Will eliminate a lot of this rolling round shit too.
Problem I have with that is that players often need treatment due to poor tackles from the other side. Then punished again by having to go off for a minute. Current rule if a player has to get treatment after a tackle his opponent grts booked for he doesnt have to go off the pitch.

But that isnt always applied.

I agree with your second point, it seems strange to mark someone as offside when they still have to move forward which will involve their feet needing to move.

Corner kicks are the hot topic in the Premier League. Goals from corners are at a record high. More goals are being scored from corners than free kicks. The issue is that the crowding and holding has got out of hand. It's a really ugly look and very hard for the officials to police.

I've seen two suggestions to fix it. Don't allow attackers into the 6 yard box until the corner is taken. Or allow refs to give free kicks before the corner is taken. Trouble is that the PL can't make up it's own laws. And IFAB won't act if it's seen as just a PL issue. That might change if the English teams are winning European games by dark arts tactics.

For now, the solution has to be better enforcement of the current laws. PGMO could issue guidance to all clubs that putting two arms around a player will be given as a free kick/penalty, and that VAR will send refs to the monitor when the offence is not initially given.

It does seem the rage this season to crowd the box with physically dominating players.

Crowding is never going to change, all players are welcome to be anywhere on a football pitch if they choose to be.

Holding is a tough one to police the threshold between just normal physical contact / grappling and outright holding. Then you have plenty of scenarios where both players is at it.

Free kicks will never be paid while the ball is not in play yet. The only offense that can be penalised on a corner kick when the ball is out of play is violent conduct and that should not change at all.
