Welling player charged for feigning injury against Tranmere

Welling striker Sahr Kabba is the first player to be charged by the Football Association under a new rule against feigning injury.

Tranmere defender Ritchie Sutton was shown a red card after an incident in a 1-1 National League draw on Saturday.

Sutton successfully appealed against the decision and Kabba has now been charged for "allegedly exaggerating or feigning an injury which directly led to an opponent being dismissed".

The rule is new for this season.

Kabba - who now faces a three-match ban - has until 11 September to respond to the charge.

Feigning injury to get opponent sent off

Under the rule introduced this season, a player who feigns injury and gets an opponent sent off could face a suspension.

Scenario
  • Player A is sent off for violent conduct
  • Dismissal overturned after the referee reviews the incident and sees that player B had feigned injury
  • Player B is open to a charge and could face a three-match ban

Since when has this been a thing? Good move FA, and even better to see them enforcing it.

relax.....it's a joke. nothing personal. Laughing at ones own expense is good for the soul. Isn't that why you support North as well?
Hard to say it's nothing personal when it's the same few posters who don't seem to have a go at anyone else.

And rarely actually contribute to the discussion itself other than trying to take the piss.

I'm happy to have a laugh at my own expense, but it is getting pointless for me posting on here. I'd rather just not participate in the conversation that get slagged off (it seems now it happens even when I havent posted in the discussion).

So I'll have a go back every time it happens.

Personal insults? :$

It's just a joke moomba. Lighten up a bit. Self-deprecation isn't a bad quality from time to time.
Why are you making a joke about me when I wasnt even involved in the thread? And as a poster who has whinged about people slagging your club I'm surprised you are so relaxed about persistent "jokes" about individuals.

Won't be impressed until they do it to a team that matters (no offence to Welling).
Thats my feeling. These things are normally applied against someone that won't fight back.

Well, I figure that if we are inevitably going to cop it from posters including yourself, it's only fair that we fight back a bit from time to time.

It was a joke based on yours, NFGKizza's and the board in general's (particularly certain Manchester United supporters') propensity to rush to downplay or justify anything that does not portray their club in the most rosiest of light. That's all. You probably saw me call the Man United fans out on this in the transfer thread a couple of weeks ago.

So contrary to what you might think, there is no personal vendetta against your or any one poster.

Can't remember the last time I had a go at Liverpool, but Liverpool posters certainly arent shy about having a go back at Man City. And I'm fine with that.

But why should I bother posting at all about our wages (which I have some insight into) when people would rather take the piss than simply discuss what I have to say. That stands for any other issue about Man City which people seem to think I'm doing nothing more than defending rather than discussing, even when I've posted negative bits as I did last week people still have a go about me defending the club.

Like I said, when it goes from having a go at clubs to gaving a go at individuals it just makes for a lesser quality of discussion on here. Because people can't be arsed with the bullshit.

if people are going to have a go at the club, it probably helps to not be wrong about what you're trying to say. then i wouldnt have to

Cue the personal insults instead of actually discussing the issue.

And people complain about BF being a bitchfest rather than a place to discuss football.

Don't know how it can be a personal insult when he didn't direct it at any particular poster.

It was just a joke based on a trend of observed behaviour. Other posters seem to have taken it in the spirit in which it was intended. I certainly did not intend to offend you or anyone personally and I apologise if you took it this way. :thumbsu:

Personally, I do believe that certain posters (and you are one) are overly defensive of the club they support and struggle to understand why posters of opposing clubs might not see things in exactly the same positive and rosy light. Just my personal opinion and you are certainly entitled to post whatever you like (within reason!).

Last week I got accused of being overly defensive when I pointed out two inaccuracies in a chart. One was that they had included add ons for our players and not for Uniteds new signing. The other was that he had included Dzeko (or Jovetic) sale price when I didnt think he should have. One was "good" for the club, one was "bad". Two posters had a good laugh at my expense. It gets boring, particularly when the s******ing rarely involves any discussion on whether my thoughts have merit or not.

The overly defensive thing annoys me as I have always been happy to criticise things at my club, when merited. Probably more than most posters on here. But if people say something about the club, good or bad, that I know to be true I'll point it out. Thats not being overly defensive, it's just being part of an online community and sharing what I know.

The same as supporters from every other club do, including your own. I shouldnt be criticised for that but it has got to the stage where I just won't bother posting about certain topics any more any more because it's not worth the mither that comes with it. I said it last week but this is the only place I know where people see getting into a proper debate on football, or discussing things like add-ons or amortisation is a bad thing, or cause for criticism. It really has me doubting whether there is any value in being involved in board at all.

Anyway, I'm happy to move on and hopefully start talking about football again rather than myself.

Take a chill pill maaaaaaate. City are winning everything and have just signed De Bruyne.

Life's good. You've just been to Disneyland. Not the end of the world if you bear the brunt of a light hearted joke. You won't care too much when you're holding the EPL trophy I suspect.

Fair enough. Like you, I don't want to further derail this thread.

One thing I would say, and this does not refer to you in particular, is that I have never understood why so many posters seem to feel as though it is their duty to defend their club or ensure that their club is painted in a positive light, when the evidence suggests otherwise or is at least questionable. You talk about quality of discussion - personally I think that the discussions would be a lot better and more interesting if posters were a bit more willing to critically analyse their own club (and this applies to Liverpool fans as well, and if you have read our thread, you would know what I mean), and weren't necessarily so hellbent on defending their club's turf. I find it all a bit strange and immature. We might support the club, but that doesn't mean we have to agree with/defend/justify everything in relation to the club.

Anyway, again, I apologise if you took any offence to what was intended only to be a harmless joke.

EDIT: FWIW, I do hope you stick around!

I've only been around this board for 12 months or so but it's become overwhelmingly apparent to me that there has been a recent clear rise in posts that attempt to bait, discredit or take the piss out of your work, you're definitely not paranoid about that. I enjoy your posts for the most part though mate, you bring a unique perspective to discussions here and it would be a shame to lose that voice.

I think on a whole the board goes alright.

Some posters hold on to things like a dog with a bone though which needs to stop.

I'm chilled (or was until you mention Disneyhell) and feeling fine about my football team. Having not seen our last two matches I can't wait for tomorrow.

If it was just the one light hearted joke I would probably enjoy it more on here too. But when the same light hearted joke is getting repeated every couple of days it becomes less light hearted and less amusing.
