Found an old article she was with them. Car flipped and he was two times over the limit. Tragic stuff

I'd never heard of it until i saw the link on newsnow today.

Article didnt mention if she was in the car. Said his brother and former teammate were with him and suffered broken ribs and collarbone while he walked away ok.

Yeah, it bought up at the time we brought him and it copped a fair work out after he scored twice against you guys.

Pretty sure she wasn't wearing a seat belt and it would have saved her life. Doesnt take the blame away from Alonso though.

Depay was WhoScored's man of the match and hit Lyon's third goal (1:23):

Fans possibly reacting more so to the dropped points than his individual performance. Sitting nine points off Paris after eight games, their fans have every right to be pissed off I suppose.

he has done quite well at lyon. he, mariano and fekir have been pretty good. not much beyond that honestly. they were quite unlucky on the weekend though. watched the highlights and there was an unfortunate own goal from rafael and a ridiculous red card to marcelo. 2 angers goals came after the red.

He's killing it in Belgium at the moment. Just won 3-0 against Cercle Brugge (2nd place) away.

Glad to see at least one team winning and doing well. Jatz , Elliot Moore scored as well in that game. I think he's loving his time in Belgium (can't believe the guy put his hand up for some Belgan action.)

That's the thing though, if Catalunya are successful are successful in their secession, how long until there is an upswing in the nationalism of the other autonomous areas of Spain, particularly Basque country which has had it's own efforts at secession. Admittedly I'm not familiar enough with Spanish politics to know how likely it is that other places like Andalusia would go down this path, but there could be a domino effect.

Breakaway countries seems to be the in thing these days. If every region that wanted independence was granted it we will have 100 + nations in Europe. Expect this one to for down just like the Basque / Andalucia / Arangon etc etc push for independence.

The silly thing is most of these regions already are run autonomously.

One big difference though: Catalonia is Spain's biggest economy community-wise, with it having the same size is South Africa by itself. 20% of Spain's economy would be wiped out if they gained independence. It would be bigger than Greece if it became indepedent and would probably be the 2nd biggest country on the Iberian peninsula.

Spain would still be the 6th biggest economy, and would still be closer to the top 5 than to number 7 (Netherlands).

So the Catalan push would be taken far more seriously. The weird thing is that it's only really taken off in the last 5 years or so (I believe the last time, the people were split. This action here likely spurred people to vote Yes.)

Catalonia independence movement has been around for ages. Any push for independence must surely have legal issues. And it's unlikely Catalonia would be accepted into the EU either.
It has, but up until recently, it's been a 50-50 split. Before that the biggest campaigners were the Basque on the independence issue.

Catalonia wouldn't likely be accepted because the EU is trying to discourage that behaviour. They're going to be made an example of should this happen.

It's the economic power and size of Catalonia that gives it a bit of pull I'd think. It's also a country that had a relatively recent Civil War and then a long run of Fascist rule, which is what always gives the Real/ Barca rivalry its bite.

Purely from a football perspective, Barca moving to a Catalonian league would be disastrous for them, they'd be the big club in a Portugal level league and would quickly decline. This may well be secondary to them though of course.

From a footballing respective, not staying in La Liga would be disastrous for them. They can temporarily stay in Portugal or France, but they risk their entire credibility and lots of their support if they stay in those Leagues.

I belive that Barca will eventually join the Catalan league one way or another.
