My guess is that every AFL club gets these, and we don't want the AFL involved with Maggies throwback stuff and vice versa, so this is the best we can do.
Yeah correct, and you can tell the models wouldn't know the difference between Alberton and Alberta, but if you're after something that you can wear on gameday and doesn't look like it smells like stale old man fart then some of this stuff is pretty good.

I feel like the majority of our merch is either very plain and boring like they've done a mass order from a templated online store or its absolutely horrific or its something you'd want to put in a frame. My Prison Bars (with white MG logo) still has its tags and will likely never be worn.

This hits a bit of a niche for me.

So are Port Adelaide or Port Power??

There's only one piece of teal merchandise I'd like to comeback, and it seems to be the one that's been buried forever out the back of Alberton underneath Alan Scott HQ, like the ET Atari game in the landfill.

I’d be keen to see these return if we actually wore teal and not Sturt blue like we do these days.

Port Power Football Club established circa 1997.

That is the problem with Port Power.
They did this with Port Adelaide Football Club Established 97 too

Not really an issue with Port Power

Every single club in the land and throughout history has had nicknames and abbreviations.

It really does speak to our cultural insecurity that we let it get under our skin so much.

Nickname changes are on thing but the anti- PAFC crowd claimed that Port Power was a new club that entered the AFL with no connection to the Port Adelaide Football Club established 1870. Other clubs have changed nicknames, ownership and location but unlike the PAFC have never had their history questioned.

Not at all, I used to try and fight it back in the day too and felt when the club had a formal position to not be called Port Power then it was reasonable to correct people, but at the end of the day its part of our history and story now. Might as well own it in my view.

You would be horrified to know that genuine "vintage" Port merch with "Port Power" sells for more!

Nah he's wrong. And dumb.

Morell is bang on.

Port Power was an issue in the early 2000s where we had every man and his dog gleefully decreeing that we weren't actually Port Adelaide and for various reasons we had a genuine identity crisis. The Power branding really hadn't caught on. Lifelong Port Adelaide supporters were abandoning us for their pre-1997 AFL club. We had our current AFL CEO proclaiming that we weren't the real Port Adelaide. We were bringing out loud brightly colour clash guernseys in an era that wasn't ready for them. Others had caught full blown Tealmania. We were a very divided supporter base on branding. It was a bad time and i'm certain we would have done things differently for our AFL entry if we knew we were going to go through such a tough time with it.

As such, we pushed back against Port Power, despite initially putting it on our logo. We made some short sighted branding decisions in 1996.

But anyone making a "not the real Port Adelaide" argument in 2025 is one of the dumbest campaigners you've ever met. So dumb that even addressing it with them would be embarrassing for you because they clearly not the full bucket of chips so you just sort of avoid engaging with them at all about it. If anyone is thinking about replying to a comment like that from a person like that, don't.

Port Power can't hurt us anymore. So throwing back to it is fine.

Love the bars but also love teal.

I’m not as caught up with what we wear. Everything we wear contributes to our ongoing history.

I think what we wear is the least of our problems.
