Why on earth would you want sponsors if it's just for personal use anyway. Looks far cleaner without

Sure if a club official was wearing it, but otherwise I would rather have the polos without sponsors.
Personal preference I guess, but with sponsors doesn't look like a Sportspower Knockoff!

The proliferation of infuriating herds of amateur cyclists which plug up both our roads and our Italian cafes clad in lycra indicate that a lot of people like wear sponsorship for no readily apparent reason.

Fairly apparent to me that people like to promote the knobbish practice of wearing ads all over their clothing

I was never a big fan of the sponsored merch in years gone by and in fact tended not to wear much merch, usually taking not much more than a scarf or guernsey to a game.
But Ports merch in the last few years has improved out of sight and most of the ISC stuff is brilliant, with the majority carrying the sponsors name.
On the other hand a fair bit of the non-sponsored clothing looks like cheap knock off or K-Mart stuff even if some of it is sold in the megastore.
The "I want to wear what the players wear" factor also plays a big role in what people buy and I guess that's the category I fit into.

Sponsors on footy apparel is far different than wearing hats with stickers on them (the most ridiculous fashion statement ever if you ask me). Its a ******* sticker !
Nd people who tell me I can't bend the peak on my flat cap... Pfft

I know what you mean finbarr especially re: the recent good looking Port ISC gear. I have a fair set of supporter gear that's plastered with sponsor names. I'm just kinda over seeing walking billboards of all kinda crap at virtually any event. Not just footy gear.

Spose I'm still stuck in the less is more phase of supporter gear. I like subtle references to sponsors. Would much prefer a guernsey with just the Renault diamond or the just the green Energy Australia logos. I've always thought it would be more effective (purely my opinion).

But then again I'm just a fat old fart thats probs not with the times. Still think its knobbish to a degree.

All I'll say is this. When I see Travis Boak or Chad Wingard or Hamish Hartlett wearing their fully decked out media polo it makes me want to wear a fully decked out media polo. And I am definitely NOT a polo sort of guy.

When I see Greg Phillips behind the Port Club bar serving drinks in his K-Mart Port polo it doesn't fill me with an urge to wear what he's wearing.

I actually like that idea a bunch, it would be smart marketing, hey what's that on there? Would get people talking, however would assume it's dictated by those who fork over the coins

It's interesting, the endless issuing of new merchandise accopmanied by logos of the current sponsors.
You look at photos of crowds a generation ago and you are lucky to see a scarf or two in club colours.
Disclosure, I bought a new polo this year.

Bumping to vouch strongly for the new media polos. Superb, bought one today. Anyone else make some purchases today that they are happy with?
No but I really want that Port Magpies training top.

The PA monogram ISC varsity jacket is ******* unbelievable!

Very nice, a bit too young for me. Was heaving in the shop most of the day today, would have made a fortune.

Here's a pic of mine. It's kinda weird, it has all the official 'AFL Onfield' tags but has a Magpies badge on the sleeve. $81 for members.

Would look better without the hood, and minus the magpies logo.

Yep, someone I went with today was after one of these. The lady said they are selling extremely fast and she hasn't currently got any further stock out the back. So they seem to be a pretty big ticket item.
