Do they need to use the Magoies logo in order to circumvent any AFL approval issues wrt merchandise (ie this is SANFL mercy not Power). Could the logo be safely removed without damaging the jacket?

No, they don't. They pretty much have free reign to do what they like now.

FWIW, I'm taking mine to a seamstress along with my 2012 hoodie and having the Power logo transplanted to the left sleeve of this beast. The ultimate OneClub item of merch. If there was a way to safely just remove the Magpie logo and leave it bare I would.

why are some people whining about the magpies logo on the sleeve, its awesome that the club can finally sell some merch which resembles what we all (unless you 12) grew up loving. find something else to whine about, the logo is awesome, the jacket is awesome and right now the club is making all the right moves on and off the field.

yet in other teams supported you mention the magpies yet have an issue with the magpies logo being on a jacket, absurd.
Personally it's entirely an aesthetic problem, the same with the PAFC hoodie this year - Power logo on the sleeve just looks tacky IMO, detracts from the jumper.

I think it's just more unnecessary than anything.

Not all power supporters are magpie supporters. One of my mates loves it but won't buy it because he's a Roosters lad.

so what. the magpies have always and will always be part of the pafc, don't really care what a roosters supporter thinks, they are in the extreme minority, the club went nowhere while trying to cater for the extreme minority, thankfully now those terrible days are long gone. there are plenty, in fact the overwhelming majority of stuff sold at the club is power only, which is fair enough, lets not whinge because the odd awesome looking thing has the magpie logo on it.

I think the general gist of what people are saying is, why tinker with something so perfect by making it slightly imperfect. Less is more and all that. If we're being true to the whole OneClub ethos why the need for either logo on it? The 'PA' monogram in itself is the perfect all-encompassing emblem. Why tinker with perfection?

The look is retro and outer retro logo is the magpie. It would not look as good without.

Strongly disagree - tacking on a logo to the sleeve doesn't make it retro. The monogram is retro enough and by itself looks fantastic. Like finbarr said, less is more.

You don't get my point. I know the Magpies have always been apart of the PAFC, but they could have received more sales just by leaving the Magpies logo off of it, and advertise it as a piece of merchandise for both teams. Especially with something this popular.

Magpies are in the minority when it comes to the Power having more merch because they have a lot more support.

Unless they're media polos, official club jackets etc leave the logo off of it. That's why I love the new era PA hats so much. The past PAFC hoodies would have been a lot better without the Power logo.

That's fake retro. The magpie is real retro.

Lets put this on the other sleeve then because it's real retro :drunk:

How is that absurd? It doesn't look nice.

They sold out in one day. Someone likes it.
The jacket overall is nice. The Magpies logo on the sleeve is not nice. If the Magpies logo wasn't there, I wouldn't think twice about purchasing one.
