Anyone got an EV, are you happy with it and are you saving money?
I've had an EV for about 18 months. So happy with it that we bought another one for my husband about 2 months ago (different model though).

We're saving a significant amount of money on petrol. We used to spend about $180 a week to fill up both cars and our electricity bill has gone up by less than half of that.

We took mine on a road trip from Melbourne to Adelaide for Gather Round. So many people were baffled because we had to stop to charge it twice, each way, but we have two kids and would have stopped anyway. By the time we got something to eat, went to the toilet, and stretched our legs, the car was charged (about 30 minutes at a supercharger). It cost us about $50 each way in charging costs, far less than we would have spent on petrol.

Do you charge it at home, if so have you purchased the higher charging unit? I’m weighing up going to petrol/hybrid or full ev. We have solar and battery at home so can charge for free during the day.

We both charge at home, just with the basic cable that came with the cars. It’s slow because we haven’t bothered to upgrade. There is a fast charger ten minutes from home if I’m desperate (have used it twice).

I am currently getting some quotes for ducted whole house aircon
first one in
its a big unit and lots of outlets and zones - anyone recently had anything installed (even if smaller) and can vouch for this being ballpark?

That price seems pretty reasonable, daikin imo is the best air con brand. Our daikon from 8 years ago and a similar amount of outlets and zones was around 12k. One thing I would love is an app that can connect to the system so I can turn the aircon off or on remotely. Pretty sure that sort of option is available now and would be handy to have. I would also make sure that the zones / outlets furthest from the central system get enough airflow. We’ve had to reduce the flow in many zones so that the back two bedrooms can get airflow.

yeh it has options for upgraded controllers and app control as per below - im not fussed about that. the controller will be outside master bedroom. But i will look at what the difference is between the 699 v 1299 options, maybe the 699 could come into play (i prefer less technology TBH,wish i could get a washer and dishwasher with dials not push button electronics).

I have solar and battery and am with amber as a wholesale electricity provider so having an ability to turn something on or off remotely would come in very handy especially if my battery is full or I could be earning money to use power. The pricing seems really good imo.

Are you looking at any EVs in particular?
