I've been in Gippland for a couple of days, drove back tonight and didn't see a drop of rain. On the radio it sounded like a tropical cyclone was happening.

There were trees down and closures south of me, worse I basically got was it was still 32, then it started raining a bit, then continued, then started ping ponging hailstones off the fence into my window like "let me in!" and the rain just just kept getting heavier and heavier where ground got saturated, puddles formed, puddles turned into tiny rivers that escaped any which way it could, and I was a little bit concerned since I could hear echos in my heating system and couldn't really leave from two doors as there was just water gushing from overbearing guttering so stairs were more like wet escalators.

So yeah, rained just a tad. Same system that is kicking QLD's arse going by the BOM.

This morning, this morning is fine thus far, looking forward to it being 32 again before round 2, come at me bro!

Surprised the malnourished, calcium deficient halfwits aren't running rampant on here tonight? Pretty surprising given it's a Friday night and they're all too scared to step foot out into the night-life with the rest of the gorgeous successful alpha's.

By the looks of it they are

This sort of stuff reads pretty hostile to new posters, just so you know.

Says who? Name and shame. A high protein diet should fix their underdeveloped sarcasm gland, among other things.

Let me ask my brood, but, what is this diet you speak of? Are you faliable that you have to actually listen to such nonsense? Weak.

"Last Saturday in South Australia, renewables accounted for a staggering 135 per cent of total demand, breaking the world record for the proportion of solar and wind supplied to a large grid.

As a result of all this excess generation, the spot price of power fell to minus $35.95 per megawatt hour."

I decided to drive up EastLink to avoid driving along the Monash to Gardner station. Ended up getting off at the Maroondah Highway and parking at Heatherdale.
I was pleasantly surprised how good an option it was. Didn't add too much to the trip into the city.

Generally speaking, every time I've had to transit to Keysborough, I've never really understood why people choose the Monash willingly, it's such a crap shoot when there's sure, bit of dicking around otherwise but much better options around the area.

Most of the time the Monash is fine. This weekend though they have it down to one lane at Forster Road.

I'm only driving this weekend because buses are replacing trains between Westall and the City.

It will eventually get to the point where Electricity will be cheap as chips during the day, and expensive as hell ( if not browning out ) at night.
I know what you mean by the 135% , but i don't think S.A. has the ability to store much, ( 10 minutes )? so its really only 100%, or were they exporting to Victoria?

Battery storage will get better.

More than likely exporting, back in May was it that there was a NSW farm in the pipe as well? So likely that there'll be some dipping and what have you when states get things operational in the short term as the tech then refines further down the line.

Why do you assume that? its a limited technology.
It really is technology in it's infancy.

And a battery isn't necessary what you think it is. Pumped hydro is a battery. During the day with the excess energy you use it to pump the water back to the top.
