It's a better way to save the environment than slashing tyres. Taxing big cars will make you think about buying a smaller car. Add another $100 to $200 per years on your rego and all of a sudden a 4 cylinder hatch back looks more appealing to a lot of people than a tank. You can still choose to drive a bigger car but you pay for the cost to society. Seems fair to me.

I don't think $100-$200 a year would be much of a deterrent to people getting the car they really want to be honest.

Yeah a. Suburban plumber needs a 4wd vehicle complete with off road tyres winch spotlights etc. They already get a huge tax dodge on these

If a car is legal to buy, people are allowed to buy it.

If these cars are melting puppies every time they drive past a white picket fence, then they shouldn't be allowed on the road.

If owning one isn't breaking a law.. people can do what they want with them.

Wrote a song years ago about some people I met who were always protesting and telling everyone how to live their lives. They were also regularly completely wasted in front of their young, snotty nosed, neglected children.
