I think she came to grips with reality that she was a jealous failure who essentially murdered someone and this gave rise to the creepy old people attacking her - some twisted nightmare she didn't want to live so she killed herself

I have watched it around 10 times over the years and it's still a complete mindf**k. I am not even convinced that Betty/Diane/Rita/Camilla are separate people - Rita/Camilla may be a schizophrenic fantasy wish-fulfilment trip of Betty/Diane's. I'm sure the Club Silencio scene holds the key to this (no pun intended) but it defies rational analysis and interpretation.

My theory is that Diane Selwood fled her small town (and abusive childhood) to make it in Hollywood, failed and committed suicide, and the whole movie represents her dying thoughts in the seconds between the opening gunshot and her head hitting the pillow.

Mulholland Drive is a movie that makes spoiler tags redundant.

There's really nothing to understand about Mulholland Drive. Lynch seems to love causing movie buffs to run around in circles trying to find meaning in something that's obviously very personal to him. Dreams are very prominent in all of his work and Mulholland Drive would be no different. Just sit back and enjoy the film for it's atmosphere, it's ability to spook, it's kooky characters, it's brilliant photography of Los Angeles, and the always great soundtrack of Angelo Badalamenti. That does it for me.

Well, just spent the first night at my new house, the lack of foxtel and Internet is killing me, as I'm renting I had to ask for permission to install them.

I hope we can get the internet, because I'm in a nbn area, the copper network has been switched off, if I can't get it installed we will have no phone or internet.
