Pretty weird making such a gigantic decision based on such a slim majority.
Plenty of massive society changing decisions have been made because of a 1 vote majority. Look at Supreme / High Court type decisions. Political leaders, votes for legislation etc.

Does anyone know if the votes counted include the British Diaspora who live around the world? I've seen a couple of stories about the Brits/Ukians who live in Oz and can vote and I got the impression the 5 million in the diaspora could make the difference. Most of that 5 million are still citizens or dual citizens and could have voted. It will be interesting to see any analysis of this group by country, ie what percentage who could have voted did turn out, and what way did they vote.

Most of the diaspora live in 6 English speaking countries and Spain. Approx split up is
Oz 1,200,000
Spain 800,000
USA 700,000
Canada 600,000
Ireland 300,000
NZ 250,000
South Africa 200,000

The 2 big Diasporas in Europe after Spain are
France 200,000
Germany 140,000
And after that there are a few countries in the 50,000 around Europe and rest of the world.

Bit of premature celebration there. It will be about 2 years before the UK officially terminate from the EU and that doesn't mean extradition treaties will be automatically torn up. Plenty of more sunless days for Mendax and a lot more white pastie skin to ensure.

David Cameron is GAWN.

Britain gonna be pushed even further right than David Cameron? RIP Britain.

Interested to know of your first hand experience living in the UK and therefore your depth of knowledge of the existing political and social circumstances of the country.

Note. I have no personal interest in the 'yes' or 'no' camp but as you have a penchant of neatly putting other peoples views who may not be of your beliefs in 'boxes', your experiences may be fruitfull.

The hysteria is incredible. From the outside looking in you wonder what the fuss is really about. It may shift some relationships, markets and politics but really it's not going to make a huge difference aside from the UK not having a leash attached all the way from Brussells.
Because a massive part of the whole debate was race, whether people admit it or not it was a huge factor.

That is worrying for many who live in the diverse cities. It's something that a country as homogenous as Australia struggles to understand.

There is a genuine reason why I asked Dylan8. In recent years I've been doing family research and exchanged many emails with previously unknown distant family members and have read of their concerns of what is happening in the UK.. We were in HK for Chinese New Year this year and joined a German business man, his Indonesian wife and a HK National during dinner. I won't go into the details but the German gentleman gave a deeply disturbing picture of the changes to his country's culture with the influx of immigrants and government policies in their favour. Therefore, having been around for a decade or eleven, special care must be taken in commenting on issues that don't immediately affect us or match our personal (political) views.

It won't matter in the course of time. Economics has a funny habit of balancing itself out.
What a ludicrous comment. Nothing matters over the course of time as we will all die, but making a mess of the lives of people in the meantime is shit.

As close to 50/50 as you'll get. be exit is an English nationalism thing, make no mistake.
Happy to say that my ethnic background is Scot/Irish on the old man's side ( 3 generations back ), and Welsh/Irish ( 3 and 4 generations) on my mother's side.

There is no to and from in me! ;)

He wasn't even a twinkle in his old man's iris when Force blew out his ACL in an Atlasphere on the very first episode of Gladiators.

Pretty open and shut case, really.
