When I saw your first few posts I wondered if you were from Vancouver and their Stanley Park. Didn't even check your location. Have they put up goal posts in Stanley Park yet? 25 years ago when I went thru there, before going to live in Toronto 10 months, they had 6 or 7 turf wickets and games being played on a Saturday arvo in May. They had plenty of grass on them.

25 years ago I bought a can of West End Light in a pub in Victoria. Have a photo of me holding the can in my photo albums. You could buy Coopers Sparkling ale and they made a larger called Big Barrel just for the North American market. Can't remember if I saw Coopers in BC back then but definitely could buy Coopers in the pubs/clubs in Toronto that carried beers from around the world. I think you could buy six packs in the Liquor Stores back then.

Cricket's pretty big in BC because there's so much immigration from the subcontinent; not so much AFL action though; but in Ontario they have their own league with several teams.

TSN (joint venture of ESPN and CTV network) shows the AFL here- my first years in Canada it was one game a week but now it's two- and they don't promote it at all... but I think that there's enough interest from locals as well as expats. Maybe more Mike Pykes to come.

Not been to Victoria yet, but its quite the prettiest city in BC... love that you could get West End Light there! Now if only they still made West End Export. I lost quite a few brain cells to that beverage back in the day.

I've been playing AFL Premiership 2007 on my PS2 all day.

After winning the premiership against (lol) Melbourne by 120 points, the 2008 season fixture was released. I lol'd that we had 16 Friday night games and only 5 away games and how unrealistic that was... but then it occurred to me...

That's Collingwood's fixture every year.
