Anyone here know anything about Ports diet?

In a recent lecture in Melbourne, Aust Cricket team doctor Peter Brukner talking about the benefits of a "low carb - high fat" diet said one AFL club was doing it through the week and carb loading on match day, he went on to say this particular club had exceeded all expectations for the year. The only club i can think of is Port. Anyone know?

No. I'd have thought most (all) AFL clubs offered guidelines only.
I can remember an article on the life of an AFL player from years ago, based on Freo. It discussed all the things we all alresdy hear about - healthy diet, strategic carb loading, skin-folds and the like. But it was hardly revolutionary even back then.

How would he know though? Do we assume there are as many as 18 different ways to do this, and that one is measurably better?
.... The only club i can think of is Port ....
But why?

Both Darren Burgess and Peter Brukner were at Liverpool together so obviously know each other.

Still don't see how/why his reference points to us though but no matter. However I should point out that Choco and Burgess were at Port together, so I am hoping Richmond players have adopted the Choco diet (high carb + carb loading on days with a 'y' in them) over the break.

Not sure why you are being so defensive, it was a legitimate question and i just hoped someone might know the answer.

Not defensive, not with the second reply. Sorry to give that impression. I welcome you to our board, the subject you raised is potentially interesting.
What I will say is you could have fleshed out your original post to include information like the Burgess/Brukner connection and any other background material. There are enough people who post here and who have club connections that you could get them interested enough to reply. I doubt that the dietary regime is a state secret. One question, why did you bury your query here rather than posting a new thread?

Because i dont like starting new threads on an opposition board.

And just for interest sake here is the vid. Its fascinating stuff and when you consider the increasing amount of elite athletes and teams around the world now doing it, it is only a matter of time it filters into the AFL. I assumed Melbourne would be (im not sure yet) as their club doc was also at the seminar, but they were crap this year so it wasnt them he was talking about.

And when you consider Ports great fitness and especially their last quarter endurance it all ties in with everything i have read about LCHF (and that is a hell of a lot)
