I've just started breaking bad for the first time

Finished season 1 last night. Loved episodes 1 and 2, found the next block of episodes really boring but then the finale was solid

Does it get better in future seasons or is season 1 indicative of the series?

I think its very much like The Wire in that season 1 does a lot of background work to set the whole series up which pays massive dividends in subsequent seasons, as opposed to it paying off at the time. Season 2 is excellent and it continues to grow from there.

If Breaking Bad ends anywhere near as good as how its developed so far, it will shoot to number 1 on my list i'd think.

There are a lot of ways they can finish it, hard to discuss without spoilers though. The character development really makes the series, its funny thinking back to season 1 Walt.

The transition of Walt and Jessie throughout the seasons is one of the main reasons the show is so engrossing. Walt's first step into the Heisenberg character gives a hint to what he is truly capable of.

I've been watching over season 3 recently, and it had a flashback to the start. Pretty hard to imagine how far he's come in such a short time.

I'm looking forward to how they get to the point at the start of season 5.
