How the hell could Fremantle, with their list afford to pay Pearce 600+?
Pav is a veteran i know but i assume Sandi,Hill,Mundy, Johnson, ballantyne, Duffied etc must demand some coin

Sandilands is also a veteran. Freo would have quite a few players that would be on relatively low coin. Especially since the last time they negotiated contracts, it was when they were an average side. Things will change soon, they'll probably lose a few.

That said, KT was even quoted as saying it was a "very substantial amount of money", and the media latched on to I think the figure of 650k.

Pearce looked happier tonight than I've seen him look at Port in years. I don't blame him, the way he was treated by some of our fans and by Primus was a joke. No hard feelings towards him, I wish him the best of luck at Fremantle. I wish he was still here though.

PatientMetal over the past few weeks has become a seemingly expert on everything that occurs at the club and every player and their opinions.

Has no ****ing clue what so ever.

Pearce got huge money at Freo. We offered him a lot, they offered more.

Of course Pearce looks happier - he can do what he does best, which is carry the ball and give a team outside running while the other team has to worry about other players who can do a similar role. He left for the same reasons that Shaun Burgoyne left - didn't want to put in the hard yards at a team that was going to struggle for the next few years, and instead went to pursue a premiership. And good on him - we'll expect players to come here through free agency when we are pushing for a flag.

I don't wish he was here. Not because we couldn't use him, but because I'd rather all our players learn to appreciate how much better a side is when it has those flashy, outside running players. Because I get the feeling that inside the club, there was a bit of animosity toward him since he never really 'got his hands dirty'.

So did Pearce want to stay or not?

I know for a fact we only ever offered him 2 years and that was his bone of contention, he is on no where near 600k. He was happy to stay at Port but he wanted a 4 year contract.

Is he here?

But don't put it out like you know that he is having an amazingly wonderful time over in Freo with his besties and they are making each other friendship bracelets, all the while the Port lads are abusing any other player in their team and throwing sticks at them.

Never said he was. He wanted more money and was looking for success, hence why he wanted the crows and got freo,

Pearce didn't feel at home, and with the people at Fremantle he does.

Take of it what you will, but I bet he enjoys being in the company of the likes of Hill, Morabito, Walters, Simpson, Clarke, Johnson, Pearce etc far more than our boys.

Quoted for your short term memory.

lol you don't say?

So wtf does this mean then, or is it just empty space and you are making wild assumptions.

Then why did he want to go to Adelaide?

Because Adelaide offered him a 4 year contract, he wanted security for him and his family. Port saw Monfries as a better option so they offered him the 4 year contract that Danyle wanted.

I just think those players, and the coaches will push Pearce in the right direction, and less pressure will be on him, unlike for the next few years at Port we might have relied on him to break games open than they will expect at Fremantle. That freedom was obvious tonight.

I'm all for him going and I don't blame him after the last few seasons, and I think he is more likely to achieve his potential at a team that can cater for his current inconsistencies than ours atm.

Pearce is a classic icing on the cake player who can finish off the work by a good team, e.g. Freo. He wasted on our inept play over the last 5 years.

Ho hum, if we can turn it around we'll be recruiting our next Danyle Pearce in a couple of years.

Can someone in the know let us know if the Port boys make friendship bracelets for each other coz that'd be cute
