Boxing is very skillful in its purist form. Thats why it remains an Olympic sport. For young lads, its a way to try and get through that guard, score some points. Its a way for young lads to pent some frustration, and do it legally. As i said i have no objection to the fight sports we have, i just dont think they really look after our sportsman. Fighting under controlled conditions is a big thing nowdays with our boys. It worries me with the ungloved and go for it blood fighting we have. It's like takeaway food for viewers, but not pure fighting and point scoring.

Ungloved is far safer than gloved, one of the mistakes the UFC made was allowing the authorities to mandate gloves, far more concussion injuries caused, harder hits and less grappling.

If you feel mama, BJJ and judo lack skill I invite you to my local club. There is very little bash and crash (as you will lose quickly that way to a skilled fighter) but much techniques and gaming.

Ungloved is far safer than gloved, one of the mistakes the UFC made was allowing the authorities to mandate gloves, far more concussion injuries caused, harder hits and less grappling.

There is just no way the modern fighter should be allowed to wear such padded gloves. It will do all kinds of long term damage, by allowing the fighters to take more hits to the head without being KO'd and the fight stopped. The harder it is to hit the skull, the less it will be getting pounded on. This will also restore some focus to body shots

Seven for me. I liked the atmosphere of Zodiac and would watch Mark Ruffalo read a telephone directory but based on an unsolved crime it just ran out of steam (although some great performances by Jake Gyllenhaal and John Carroll Lynch).

Prisoners with Jake G is atmospheric like Zodiac, probably overlong and would have been a better movie without the Hugh Jackman side story. But not bad and largely unheralded as far as I can tell.

Prisoners was getting incredible reviews up the wazoo, not sure why you didn't like the Hugh Jackman side of the story, his best performance ever.

Zodiac, Seven and Fight Club my choices too. Edit: How could I forget The Game? I'd probably have The Game as number one.

Alien 3 is probably my favourite Alien, because I don't take them as seriously as others. I'm a huge Cameron fan, but Aliens is my least favourite of the trilogy, even though I appreciate his redirection into action territory.

Alien 3 just had the best setting, atmosphere, Ridley was basically just pure desperation and no feeling at that point, almost completely drained... The whole impregnation thing, some of my favourite actors. It was just fun.

I'm also not a huge fan of how long UFC fights are allow to go on for, even though that's the essence of the sport, it seems un-sportsman like to throw punches at a semi conscious opponent while he's on his back.

Kickboxing is caught betwixt and between and is the worst of the lot.

Never saw Zodiac, but Seven is a classic, Fight Club forgettable, but watchable one time only. I don't think I could watch Seven again either, because I know what happens. Aliens, I liked the series...also don't mind the crossover

Honestly it depends which fights or fighters you watch, there are still plenty of clean crisp stand up matches out there. It may seem un-sportsman like but there have been many times where a fighter has caught second wind and staged an incredible fightback. I won't sit here and preach, but just dispel a few misconceptions, like that UFC is either a brutal bloody Hollywood style fighting slugfest, or it's 2 dudes humping each other for 20 minutes. It cab be both, the truth is in between.
Also even though it's old, I'm going to shamelessly promote this awesome fan made promo.

In a two and a half hour movie for me the interest was in Jake Gyllenhaal's character and his detective work and interaction with the main characters. The whole Jackman / Guantanamo Bay arc took much of the attention in the reviews I saw and distracted from what was a neatly constructed thriller. While it was a different role for Hugh and he did it well, the character was basically Wolverine angry man without the claws. In the end the movie would have stood alone without that arc but it did set up the ending nicely.

Anyway that was only how I saw it and I'm sure many others thought differently.
